35 dead kittens found in southeast Tulare County home

This story is unbelievable. The "dead kittens" although not 35, had been used as target practice by hunters and my sister tried desperatley to save them. It tore her up emotionally.
Coral Kerr has dedicated her whole life to animals; been seriously involved in programs for the protection of animals. Her house is a mess because her animals have full access to the home, each having their own beds, toys, etc. They are loved and individually attended to affecionately. THE CRIME HERE is that the county has ripped them out of their home and put them in tiny kennels, alone, scared and away from the animals that they have grown up with. My sister has ALWAYS taken excellant care of all of them for years.

I know Coral Kerr to be a reputable, compassionate, caring and loving rescuer of animals. This poor woman has taken in animals that nobody else would take, including the ones subject to target practice in the woods where she lives. Tulare County Animal (Hell Hole) Shelter in Visalia are the criminals here....barging through her door, destroying her property, hitting one dog over his head and forcing Coral into an ambulance to deem her insane...after a professional examination she was deemed sane and released but her poor animals have been at this horrible hell hole since Mid June. When she spoke with the Director, Tim Jones he told her they would probably get sick and die there, and the Sheriff whom she sought to get help from told her "I don't give a shit about your animals"...nice compassionate people!!! Coral suspects the hunters started this witch hunt because she was interferring with their target practice and want her out of there. Channel 7 wrote a letter defaming her good character and now the towns people will not sell her goods in the stores nor order her parts for her broken down car. This poor woman is suffering a huge injustice and needs the right people to come forth to help her and save these animals that she is afraid will be euthanized with the excuse "they were sick"...>They were not.
I have been in rescue for over 50 years and know Coral Kerr and gave her a dog named Maxwood 5 years ago when nobody else would take him in....I would never do that if I thought she wasn't less than honorable...

Wow, so this woman was saving cats and taking care of them to the best of her ability and her healthy cats were removed from her home and placed in a horrific, high-kill Kern animal shelter? What about the guys who were SHOOTING cats? I'd imagine that won't even be looked into. Typical of Kern. I am so sorry for this woman and her cats.

The link to the story is invalid. Big surprise that it was removed from the Visaliatimesdelta.com website. It should be removed from this site as well! If Kern County Animal Control did it's job, there wouldn't be people struggling to save as many innocent, suffering animals as possible and being scrutinized and frowned upon in the process.

Common sense says that the above post are full of outright lies, distortions and ommissions.

There are toomany things in all four post that don't make sense.

A statement was mmade that the cats were shot by hunters but the report says they were found in house. If someone did actually hit a dog, maybe it should have been restrained.

Maybe they had a reson to have her evaluated? Were you there and hear what she said. I told a woman how her son was acting and she called me a lying, racist, ignorant ass. So I had her sit in my living room and watch and listen to what her kid was doing....After she whooped his butt, we became good friends...Some people act different when away from their family, friends or bosses.

You may be basing your "feelings" on your own life's experiences which is natural, but you do not know Coral Kerr as I do. I have been in animal rescue for 50 years and I know the real self sacrificing rescue workers from the ones who do nothing. This poor woman has given her life over to these poor creatures. If you read the entire story you would understand that first of all Coral goes into the forest to try and save as many cats and dogs and racoons and other animals as she can BEFORE the hunters can target practice on them "for sport" (some sport). The ones she manages to save, she takes to the vet, gets them in good shape and finds them suitable homes. The poor little ones who have died out there in misery because hunters have left them that way, she brings home and has to dispose of them. There are 2 different stories here Soldier Steve, not one....thus is where your confusion may lie.
As far as an aggressive dog, I think not. Obviously you do not know Animal Control and their wicked, evil ways. Had you been in rescue for half as long as I, you would understand. Many of them would sooner main and kill a dog or a cat or anything than to try and save it...too much work. I have seen them at work unfortunately too many times - how they put vicious dogs in with gentle ones in kennels and take bets on how long it will take for an agressive dog to kill a non-aggressive one, or take a scene from the Kern County Hell Hole they call a shelter, where they also take bets as to how long it will take the hungry and starved dogs to eat the others after not feeding them....or totally "forget" that there are dogs starving to death in other kennels, or tell the public the adorable pure breed puppies got sick and had to be euthanized because too many people were on the waiting list to adopt and it took too much energy for them to fill out the paper work...(Lancaster Hell Hole)...and the list goes on.... these are FACTS, not my imagination. Look up www.Shelterwatch.com and more. I do not believe Coral's dog attacked anyone. He was scared out of his wits and did not go willingly with the officer.... much like some of the Jews during the Holocaust being forced into the gas chambers. Were they insane too when they tried to fight back, or just scared?

It sounds like this case needs to be reinvestigated.....it also seems that the original investigation may have been botched by poor investigators jumping to assumptions which drew them to a terrible decision, that not only cost Coral her freedom, privacy, and so forth, but the rescued animals from their warm, loving homes......
Before I jump to any of my own conclusions, just how many animals were found dead, if the count of 35 is inaccurate? Also, what does Coral say about this entire situation, or has she lawyered up? Which of coarse would be wise and understandable in any case.....

I have a cousin that works for Valley Oaks SPCA in Visalia, and I know for a fact that she cares and loves the animals very much. She hates having to take them to the "Blue Room". However, the funding is awful and they just don't know what to do with all the animals. They have an 80-90% euthenazia rate a month. What do you suggest that they do with all the animals that come in and out of there? I agree on the cage sizes. The cages for the cats is just exceptionally too small. Cats need roaming space. They get what a 5-6 day wwindow to llive and pray that someone adopts them?
It's my understanding that the folks that work in the office there are rude, inconsiderate, and snobs. This may or may not be true? I could be wrong?

I have seen animal collectors that talk a good story but have seen the conditions these so called saved animals are kept in and it's almost criminal abuse. Having seen the condition of these ponies, cats and dogs by well meaning people who are into saving animals but over their head in control of mange, flees, ticks and in the case of the ponies had hooves that damaged the legs because they were not trimmed or allowed to walk on hard surface to naturally wear them down. I may not know this lady and her situation but I do know of animals in horrible conditions by well meaning people.
I agree that the SPCA and animal control shelters are far from disease free especially for pets that had not been innoculated. If you have actually seen animal control personnel abusing any animal, contact the district attorney, sheriff or the direcor of the shelter in writing with cc copies to your local newspaper.
I lived in Tulare County for several years and I wouldn't count on the DA unless you have someone else involved to make sure things are investigated honestly.
Channels 24-30-47 would love this story.

I have known Coral Kerr since 1965. She is one of the most compassionate people I know and has given her life to saving animals. I went to visit her a few months ago and brought food for the animals which she so desperately needed. She sometimes would go without food or necessities for herself if the animals needed something. She was trying to 'save' kittens that were just born to a wild cat (and abandoned)and some of them were dying. She was destroyed. She felt helpless that she couldn't save them. She had done this before and unfortunately the little ones did not survive. She had no place to bury the cats on her property and had a friend who was in the business of picking up animal remains in a humane manner. Coral had to put the remains of the ferrell cats in her freezer to wait until her friend could pick them up. When her home was raided, the Sheriffs looked in the freezer and accused her of killing cats. I have been trying to tell this story to the animal shelter who has her 'family' of animals but no one would listen and they have crude, awful remarks to say to those who are trying to help Coral. This is so wrong and unjust and Coral has suffered enough. Not many of us would give up our entire lives to save a precious, helpless animal. Now we need to step up and help save Coral Kerr.

I just want people to know that i have personally have been lied to by this crazy women. She promised me that my dog was going to go to a good home, and she made me drive 3 hours to her home. I had gotten lost and found a neighbor that was nice enough to let me know what this women was really up to. She did not mention to me that she was under investigation and i feel personally victimize by her. She fed me so many lies that i believed were true. I wish this doesn't happen to anyone else. She is a crazy person who abuses animals and needs to be locked up in a mental institution. No body trust her and everyone who disagrees with me, can just save their arguments for someone who cares because i don't!!!!!! i have lost my trust in people. Thank you for that CAROL KERR!!!!! and those poor kittens will get their revenge when you are behind bars.

This is for the person who is cowardly enough to remain anonymous. First off you are targeting CORAL Kerr, not CAROL Kerr, and secondly just because Coral is under investigation, does NOT a guilty person make. ANYONE can come under investigation for totally innocent and even heroic deeds....good and honorable deeds that your average person would never attempt to even involve himself in. In this instance, Coral went out into the woods by herself trying desperately to save as many little critters dumped there by cruel and heartless people and left to be used as target practice by the hunters. In addition when she came across the poor little dead kittens; already killed by hunters or whom died from starvation or any other circumstnce, Coral picked them off the ground to get them cremated. The hunters and the towns people did not want her interferring with the hunters and thus reported her. Coral IS the victim here, not you! This is NOT about YOU Mr. or Miss Anonymous, but about a self sacrificing individual who seems to care more about God's precious creatures than you or most of the world. So before you begin spouting venom at the innocent and heroes of this world, may I suggest you delve into the real facts....If you feel someone who cares deeply for these unfortunate animals is crazy, then let me remind you I for one would rather be "crazy", than being a cold hearted, unfeeling individual.

Coral has a huge animal rescue network behind her working in her behalf since we all know her and the kind of person she is. She has a crazy neighbor, Larry Barney, who owns the Seven Oaks Market in California Hot Springs. He is a narcissist who cares only about himself and his image......complained to me about his chronic pulmonary lung disease, is 71-years-old and will lucky to survive the wrath he and his buddies who participated in this egregious invasion of Coral's and her pet's personal space and privacy, will face once we, and there are hundreds of us working on this, complete all our investigations on the backgrounds of those involved and they know who they are, and file the pending legal actions that are in the works. I hope it was worth for Barney and his deadbeat, redneck losers because they are going to paying a pretty high price for what they did. There are way too many of us compared to them and we're global...just call the D.A., the secretary will tell anyone how many phone calls and emails of support have been pouring in on Coral's behalf. California Hot Springs unfortunately is a Mecca of Meth Heads!

This comment is unbelievable and I am divulging his name David Ortega. He called me because Coral gave him my number in case something happened. David, don't be an idiot and believe that whacko who you say is a kind neighbor...she's not...I am really shocked that you could do this kind of damage when Coral went out of her way to help you find a home for a PITBULL which you know will be put down in a shelter because people are afraid of them. But, you have one because you're really a powerless person easily influenced by others that you don't even know. You're hiding as anonymous but your name is exposed now. Too bad you called me to complain.....maybe you'll think next time before you write a damaging retort on someone who found a home for your dog. People like you shouldn't have dogs...why can't you live on your own working two jobs instead of having to live with another family who ordered you to get rid of your dog...Grow up!

Yeah she wanted to take my dog and i was grateful, but she never let me know about her investigation and that she wasn't even allowed to have any dogs. so he would have just ended up in a shelter again. and those rednecks probably would have eaten him or something.
