Pine Creek assistant coach killed in U.S. 24 crash east of Colorado Springs
An early-morning, two-car crash Tuesday took the life of an assistant softball coach at Pine Creek High School in Colorado Springs. Peyton Riedel, 25, died when, according to accident reports, her 2013 Kia Sportage was struck by a 2016 Kia Rio that had drifted into oncoming traffic on U.S. 24 a half-mile west of Calhan in eastern El Paso County just before 1:30 a.m. The driver of the Kia Rio, 22-year-old Megan Mann, had fallen asleep at the wheel according to State Patrol.
