I hope they get jail time, with fines. Also EPA should fine them. Names would be nice.

I work at a local scrap yard in Western Michigan we have people on daily bases coming to our location and trying to sell converters to us for scrap.
We kind of wonder when the converters are still shiny and show very little signs of use.
We have implemented a security plan to track these people operation: CatCatch. We will only buy converters from people we have done business with in the past. Most people don't know that on the newer cars 2000 up that the there is a high temp microchip in the body of the converter that holds the VIN number of the car it was assembled on at the factory.

Be very careful.

It seems like a few get caught but many more people are out there doing it. All of the scrap yards should be aware. These jerks need to be punished.

Anyone who works in the automotive production business knows this is total BS.

Why would this person write this nonsense?

if the scrapyards stopped taking them from individuals they don't know maybe, probably not but maybe it would stop.

maybe the police should start checking those hauling trucks overflowing with metals and other junk enroute for items that look suspicious. Many drive with way too much in the truck or trailer anyway.

I totally agree with "froggy log" - those jerks need to get a J-O-B like the rest of us hard working people and stop stealing what we already paid for. Maybe someone should steal from them so they know how it feels to have to pay for something twice. IDIOTS!!

There's been a lot of catalytic cov. stolen off cars at the D Ave. and 131 car pool lot also. I wonder if these are the same persons involved too.
