DEC: Skulls not ones of Stevens animals

Full story: The Bennington Banner

After examining dog skulls found by state police on the farm of former Town Dog Control Officer Matthew Beck, State Pathologist Ward Stone said Wednesday that the skulls do not match up with the missing dogs reported by Hoosick Falls resident April Stevens.

I still say that someone out of HF area should take care of this town.
Douglas & Shiland should be investigated as well since they seem to know what was going on the whole time. HF needs re-vamping and new blood brought in to shape up the town. Get rid of the rednecks trying to run the town.
Beck needs to own up what he did with April's dogs and do the right thing this time. Be accountable Beck!

For someone who lives so far away you have a lot to say about how we run OUR town!

Douglas should have known it wasn't realistic to say that Beck would be accompanied on all calls. She set herself up for a lie. In usual HF Buddy System fashion they thought nobody would notice if they slipped a little lie by us. Shouldn't there be some accountability for a Public Official not following procedures that they put in place? Do as we say, not as we do.

Mr. Stone states that the heat from the manure pile that the remains were found in” accelerate decay process and make it difficult to identify” yet he goes right ahead and identifies an animal that has been missing for over eleven months. Apparently the rate of decay is not that accelerated. It seems forensic science for animals is more advanced than that for humans as taking a skull and matching it to a particular dog’s picture is quite astonishing. That dog must have been one in a million.
In the last paragraph of this article it States that the State Police have not supplied the Hoosick Town Board with any information but it seems that they have deemed it necessary to provide the local media with an abundance of information. If the investigation were to benefit the local dog population it seems the employer of the animal control officer should have this information so that they can make a decision on the strength of evidence presented with regard to removing the animal control officer to protect the dogs of Hoosick. This could be construed as the State Police not having strong enough evidence therefore attacking the character of the animal control officer is their way of punishing him for his alleged behavior.
As a New York Tax payer I will be filing a petition with the Rensselaer County DA’s office through the Freedom of Information Act asking for the cost of an “investigation” for two lost dogs that the owner would not spend $15.00 on licenses for. More than likely that initial $15.00 investment would have saved us taxpayers thousands.

I think you need only pay attention to who is attending these board meetings and being quoted in the paper. And I wonder, HF non buddy, who is setting up who?????
RV you are right, everyone has an agenda, not caring about the truth, but on a ruthless witchhunt. I think it's clear who the real witch in this mess is. From what I've heard everyone who is against him and at these board meetings is someone who he must have pissed off. I think you've realized that RV. I believe this message board should be made one that isn't anonymous...as you can see how it can get out of control. Say whatever you want and never be called on it publicly as Beck has, but just fuel the fires and sit warming your hands by it. Get a life.

This guy has problems who on earth would allow him to be an animal control officer. My father has been an ACO for over 17 years and was completey discused by this story. This guy is nothing more then a wanna be ACO. He has no knowledge, no training no nothing and I feel sorry for the people of Hoosick Falls who have had to deal with him.

(I realize several of you may need to look the above word up.)
As for Hmmm's remarks, if you think contributors should I.D. themselves, why don't you step up and do just that?
To the person whom (at least would like us to believe he or she)is studying to become a lawyer, in what world do you know more about scientific matters than famed state wildlife pathologist, Ward Stone? Is Ward Stone also a part of this conspiracy some of you have imagined?
The residents who attend meetings are simply the people who are not afraid to show their faces when discussing this increasingly distubing situation. If you feel the need to continue to rail against these people, please come to the next meeting and identify yourselves, instead of "bravely" typing away in anonymity? Please do take that as it was intended-a challenge.
And what reasonable person really thinks the State Police, as well as the two additional official agencies which recently joined, have nothing more important to do with their time than conduct a frivolous investigation, just to waste tax dollars? I am sure, in your minds, they are all in on this conspiracy too. The motive for this massive, multi-agency conspiracy, I'm sure you will try to concoct.
Now let's see, why would the media be covering this story so well? Could it be that people are interested in the story, after all, you certainly are. There is evidence of that every time you respond to an article here. And I would hazzard a guess that for some of you, your interest is of the personal nature.

Enlightened,
I merely pointed out the inconsistencies attributed to Ward Stone by the Banner. It does not take a genius to see them. I’m sure you will hear them again if this goes to trial. As far as a conspiracy theory that is your own imagination. I have not claimed any such thing. I’m not sure of the three agencies you claim are involved but if you’re referring to the two tickets issued by the DEC I’m afraid you will be sorely disappointed when the court appearance occurs as they will be more than likely dismissed. DEC will be very busy issuing tickets to every farm in NY for illegally dumping animal carcasses if it is not thrown out. I believe the other ticket was for illegally euthanizing the two dogs found on Mr. Beck’s property. Although I know you hate to hear this but that charge will have to be proven (I can tell you hate that word) beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr. Beck actually dispatched them himself. If the State Police actually had proof of that he would have been arrested for that along with the possession of stolen property charge that was brought against him. I didn’t read that at all.
I applaud your activism and standing up for your beliefs. I am looking at the facts as I’ve read them and venturing my opinion just as you have. As far as going to the board meetings what makes you think I haven’t? Perhaps the town board could have removed him from duty but it would have been with pay. He has not been convicted of any crime yet and if they fired him the town would be open to a wrongful termination suit. I actually think the town must have a good lawyer as they have handled this situation well.
You ask if I question the State Police’s integrity. I certainly do in this particular case. If you are truly enlightened you only have to look west to the police problems they are having in Albany and Schenectady. I believe Schenectady has had five to seven police officers either serving time or under indictment. Bringing up the question of police integrity doesn’t bode well for your argument.
You may think you are enlightened but the switch seems to be off.

Beagle lost for 3 years in Colo. is headed home

http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_125...

A microchip scan found that Abby had been registered!

HOW FREAKING SIMPLE DOES IT GET?

3 years and hundreds of miles and Abby is going home!

More than 5 million people have registered their cats and dogs with HomeAgain, and there have been about 500,000 reunions, the company said today! HomeAgain pays the cost of flying a pet home!

What was wrong with what I said? I'll tell you, NOTHING! There is a lesson to learn from this incident and with any luck hundreds, maybe thousands of people will learn that lesson! Ultimately each of us are persons responsible for the safety of our pets! We can't try and blame others for our ignorance! My pets are registered, licensed, tagged, tatooed and chipped! They don't run free and are very well taken care of which is probably why they don't run! Any questions????

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Sagittarius

You're in a strange mood, Sagittarius. You're feeling impatient and cross, and nothing is quite right. No wonder, with Mercury and Mars retrograde, under a Full Moon lunar eclipse! But is it necessary to be quite so contrary, so determined to do the opposite of what's expected of you? Try to sort out the problem sooner rather than later, then do something energetic and therapeutic so you can burn off your nervous energy. Then you're all set for a great New Year's Eve!
