Moldy bathrooms, holes in the ceiling, stinky rooms and prostitutes next door have Burnsville leaders putting their foot down when it comes to regulating hotels and motels.

Hope they looked at the mattresses. Some guy shot himself there a month or so ago and they didn't even throw out the mattress, they just flipped it over.

Burnsville certainly is becoming the entertainment city of the burbs... lets see, it has all those "festivals" in the "Heart of who knows where"....can't forget the near completion of the performing arts center/event center bringing in even MORE entertainment. One final note.... the mentioned motel was the center of the 19 year old madem pimping local hight school girls

What Burnsville needs is more low income housing. They may spend plenty on the heart of the city and all the flowers etc but they ignore the scum moving in at record rates. The article states that there are numerous police calls to these hotels, so what, the police do NOTHING when they arrive except act like its a big nuisance.

We moved here 15 years ago thinking our kids would have a better life. Boy were we wrong, the schools suck, the only thing the police are good for is giving tickets. The property taxes are ridiculous (they have to pay the high costs of a lousy education and school system). Burnsville leaders putting their foot down???What a joke they are!!!!!!

Any one notice what else is right next to the Red Roof Inn? That area is just a magnet for trouble. We see the cops there all the time and constant loitering outside of the hotel and other businesses.

I highly suggest that all suburbanites look out for and resist plans to increase low income or affordable housing into their neighborhoods. This is exactly what is bringing down Burnsville and other inner ring suburbs.

Totally agree with you..... the union of the Met Council, the Burnsville city council and the Dakota County CDA created the 100% government housing within the Burnsville Heart of the City Project, then there is the 40% goverment housing within the Grand Market Square apartment....... This City Council and Mayor MUST be replaced in November!!!!

I think they are referring to HOOTERS. Bottom line, The Red Roof Inn is a cheap place to flop and therefore they bring certain clients that stay there and sometimes live there for many weeks. Not all motels and hotels can be 5 stars. As far as Burnsville leaders regulating anything - now that would be something new and different.

I have been at the Prime Rate motel now for quite a while and I feel that it is a first rate place to stay. I also spent time at the LivInn suites and the Red Roof and they both were much worse!

The met council ought to be disbanded if playing social engineering. If somebody can afford to live in a nice area because they have an job that made that possible, but building low income housing is a sure way to destroy a good neiborhood. Kids should have a good memories growing up in such a place, but once you start bussing people in, in other words moving peopel in not because of thier good merit, but because it's a freebee. There should be no low income housing anyway. Market rate prices for all. Half the problem for these 'poor' people, they do not have a work ethic and do not know what it is like to earn anything.

Forgive my mishaps in constructing sentences. To get back to the point. I've been out to those areas and it's a nice location, but alot of these low income types (who are no productive types), have no idea on what it is to earn there way. That creates pride and gives your life meaning. Liberals just don't understand that. There far more interested in thier own sence of well being and moral superiority to throw a bunch of people together that should not be forced togethor. It's very bad for society and morale.

I am disabled and live in what is called Section 42 housing. I have a job, but am unable to work full time. Section 42 allows me to live in a building that is inspected every year and is in decent condition.

Section 42 is a federal program that gives a tax break to the building owners in exchange for rent control.

I must be one of those Burnsville residents that you would all like to get rid of. It is unfortunate because, as I've pointed out before, I may be poor, but I know the difference between "there" and "their". It seems with my poor work ethic I was still able to make time to learn.

i knew they were referring to Hooters..hooters does not draw a troublesome crowd, before anyone maks judgement i would tell them to sit in Hooters parking lot and see who goes in there..businessmen and college kids..then go inside and see what the Hooter girls are wearing, after that go to any beach and see what the girls are wearing..i guarantee yuo will a lot more skin at the beach then at Hooters...
I dont go to Hooters the food is terrible and haveing a girl in a tshirt and hsort shorts serve it to me doesnt justify the price

i lived in Burnsville for 30 years before moving last year, the nazis had nothing on the Burnsville mayor and city council..the council had one honest hard working member his name is Charlie Crichton, unfortunately one person cant proceed with the will of the people by themselves, he was constantly overruled the other self serving self serving council members and mayor..thats why Burnsville is in the shape it is today
