Tough economy closes Reno's Roadhouse

Full story: Commonwealth Journal

One of Burnside's most prominent restaurants closed its doors on Tuesday, and its chances for reopening in the future are very much up in the air.

I am sorry to hear that Reno's closed. Some people just don't know a good thing when they have it. It provided a much better place to go rather than all those drive through/fast food places in the Burnside/Somerset area. I hope that this is not the beginning of the end as far as better restaurants and businesses moving to the area. I enjoyed eating at Reno's.

I am paraphrasing the political phrase of days gone by; and, calling you stupid for titling the thread.
Reno's closed because the "CEO" was an inefficient manager, the food stunk as much as any around, yet at higher prices, the service was weak, etc.
It's a S. Pulaski thing, you know. Look at the restaruant turnover in just the past year: River House, Lakeside Pizza & Pub, whatever used to be Fatman's occupant, that oddball Buf-Fay joint, soon, Sully's.
Though I don't wholly agree, another thread is better at explaining that Reno's--and, these other establishments--closed most likely due to lackluster staffs. What - do you think that the work ethic in restaurants is so much better than other employers?
If it were the economy's fault--and, by the way, most practicing, professional economists contend that we're swinging upwards as I type--than it would have nipped Reno's long ago.
Nope. It's just poor management; poor product & marketing; poor thoughtless staff.

Sorry I've never met you. You seem like a really nice person. I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt as far as knowing more about that place than I did. Maybe it's for the best.

Take a look on the web at the state taxes owed by Reno's and you'll understand why they closed. While you're on the website, look at the other restaurants in Burnside. Doesn't look pretty and the state let's them get by with it.

been in the food business for quite awhile and the problem at Reno's was being inconsistent. You go to McDonald's because you know what you are going to get. I had 2 really good meals at Reno's. I also had 4 really bad meals including one where I ordered a NY strip, they brought me a ribeye and tried to convince me it was a NY strip, 3 different people. I think with the great location another restaurant similar to Reno's with a little stronger management team and more consistent product could make a go of it. I think a good candidate would be Shiloh's.

I'm so glad Reno's closed! The food was horrible and so was the service. You can't blame it on being "understaffed" either. I was there one afternoon and was one of four tables. It took over 45 minutes to get our food and then it was burnt! The food was disgusting and the staff was not very apologetic and only took off 15%. We couldn't even eat the food.

What about the property. Does Renos own the building or did they lease it?

Probably would have if they'd paid it. And Reno's isn't the only one writing rubber checks.

Reno's closed for the same reason that some of the other Burnside restaurants couldn't stay in business. When Burnside went moist, everyone lost their minds. The restaurants that serve alcohol are treated like bars by customers, and ran like bars by owners and management.

Economy???? Is Ruby Tuesday's still open? How about Cracker Barrel?? Shiloh's in London?? The Harbor?? Maybe it has something (or everything) to do with management......

Daily Horoscope for December 3

Aries

It's difficult to know whether you're being realistic or gloomy today, especially when thinking about matters dear to your heart. For instance, you might be concerned about the welfare of a relative and wonder whether you're making mountains out of molehills. Do your best to remain cheerful and positive, not bogged down in nameless fears.
