The sale of industrial park property on which to build a lumber operation similar to Middle Tennessee Lumber of Burns will be voted on today by the Dickson County Industrial Development Board.

The school board likely will consider the Burns mayor's request to pay for a turning lane in front of Stuart-Burns Elementary School during a budget work session this week.

Tennessee employers taking advantage of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit program achieved a record high in potential federal income tax savings during the fiscal year that ended in September 2012, announced Burns Phillips, acting commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development.

He loved gardening, hunting and fishing. Survivors include wife of 60 years Sara Nadine Bone Baggett of Dickson; son James E. "Dean" Baggett of Athens, Tenn.; brothers John Baggett of Dickson, Tenn., O'Neal Baggett of Dickson, Tenn.

He was a Navy Veteran and member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include wife Mary Styer of Burns; sons Michael Styer of Burns and Tony Styer of Dickson; daughters Wendy Kovalchick of Dickson and Shari Fooshe of Dickson; sisters Rosada Arnold and Janice Kincaid both of Minnesota; 9 grandchildren, 1 step grandchild and 3 step great ... Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Acting Commissioner Burns Phillips announced that the 108th General Assembly passed legislation that continues the funding of unemployment benefits for spouses of military personnel who leave their jobs to transfer to a new assignment.

Mrs. Anderson's wishes were to be cremated. Survivors include son Mike Talbot of Fresno, Ca; daughter Donna Burkhead of Burns; Sister Doris Barr of Clearlake, Ca; grandchildren Mark Talbot, Christine Bonacci, Cheryl Waters and Barry Burkhead; 13 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.

A grand jury did not find sufficient evidence to charge the man accused of shooting a Creek Wood teacher in the back last October during a domestic dispute.

An April grand jury indicted three local men with murder charges last week. Robert E. Huse, 30, of Dickson, is charged with second-degree murder and aggravated child abuse for the September 2012 death of 2-month-old Grayson Michael Sanders.

The Dickson County Career Center won't be closing after all - though it may operate under a different name with the state no longer providing career center services and employees in the building.
