Rain showers will be a threat through the Independence Day holiday weekend, but summer is on the way.

Despite the state's budget crisis, all state parks will be open and life guards will be staffed at swimming areas throughout the holiday weekend starting Friday, but offices of the Department of Environmental Protection will be closed Friday and Monday.

STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE BANK ROBBERY On June 25, 2009, shortly after 3:30 p.m., Connecticut State Police at Troop L and the Burlington Resident State Trooper responded to a bank alarm at the Farmington Saving Bank located in Burlington.

A man who implied he had a weapon robbed the Farmington Saving Bank, 32 Main St., at about 3:30 p.m. today, state police said.
