That's the way basketball is. PMS is the only school around that I've watched that doesn't do it.

When kids play football or cheer it costs the parents money to register and they have to buy cleats, extra pads, mouthpieces, etc. At the middle school everything is provided for free except shoes. Do you think the taxpayers should pay for your sons shoes? After all they picked up the bill for his jersey, electricity, etc.

They wanted to have a fund raiser to buy the shoes, but they were told the money had to go to help all the sports at the school. Wonder why they didn't get any of the money when Chris Boothe raised money for football when he was a coach?

Perhaps the fund raising laws have changed since that time.

Believe me, i understand. When my son was in pee-wee football they were told that they would rather them all have black cleats, in baseball they all had red. Underarmor cleats aint cheap. two pair within months of each other. I feel your pain and i guess i probably spoil my kids. When i was growing up i didnt always have what everyone else had as far as shoes, cleats, jeans, etc. I just remember that feeling and am a sucker when my kids want something like that. When everyone else has $60 cleats my son gets $60 cleats. I know that i am not teaching him anything but i just remember how it was to not have what everyone else had. Sucks but i just chalk it up to part of having kids.

UUUUUMMMMMMM im going to call bullshit on this one!!!! Parents should get together and create a "middle school basketball booster club" they could raise all the money that they want and could spend it any way that they want. "new shoes"!!!! If it is done at the school or something like that they can have some say-so but if done correctly, the school cannot do a damn thing about it. Sounds like to me, Lisa making her own rules. Dont get me wrong i think she is nice enough but, well lets leave it at that she is nice.
I SAY RAISE YOUR MONEY, TELL LISA AND THE SCHOOL BOARD TO TRY AND TAKE IT!!!!!!!!!!
Seems that i remember hearing that Lisa said that the school didnt want the PETERSTOWN LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL TEAM TO USE THE PIRATE MASCOT!!! Because it wasnt a school thing it was a seperate league>>>>>> LIKE THEY HAVE RIGHTS TO THE PIRATE NAME!!!

Knowhim I think you got some bad information about fund raising at PMS. The cheerleaders raised money this year for new uniforms and they were allowed to keep every penny, and their coaches put in alot of time in making it happen. The problem that the school has now is that most of it's coaches work elsewhere, which means that it is hard for them to do fundraisers. Another problem is if the school buys the team shoes the shoes become property of the school, not the player who wears them. They would have to be turned in at the end of the season. You also need to thank any coach who goes that extra mile in improving their program by fundraising, I am certain that you would want every child to be properly and safely equipped regardless of the sport they play. I know as a parent it can be difficult sometimes when a child plays a sport, but remember they are only a kid once. As far as Chris Booth raising money for the football program is it not nice that you can now go to a game and sit in refurbished bleachers, is it not nice that we now have a modern lighting system at the field that he,Donnie Evans, and Aaron Judy made possible. Also if you need to talk to Mrs Mustain, do so I am certain that she would be more than happy to talk to you.

i started this topic because after already paying 60 dollars fo nikes i have to pay it again. i wish we did have a booster club for basketball. but we don't but really something needs to be done because i can't afford doing this again i should be able to let my child pick out the type of shoe they want to wear instead of a certain pair being picked for them.

i found out today that the coach has made inquirs about who started this post from the kids on the basketball team in my opinion it's nobody's business who started it everyone has a right to express how they feel and it's not right to take it out on the kids

I need to clarify a few things that yeame217 put on here. Number one I don't appreciate you putting this crap on here! If there's a problem or something you don't understand you should ask the coaches instead of put it on Topix! The shoes were an OPTION for the kids they wanted team shoes. I met with the kids 2 weeks before try-outs started and I told them not to buy shoes because we are going to buy team shoes. I kept reminding them even after we started. Now for the fundraiser We can and will be doing a fundraiser it will go only to girls basketball not to all sports. The fundraiser has to be used for things that will stay at the school basketballs, uniforms ect. it cannot be used for personel things the kids keep.
Also I did not finger point who started this post because I know who you are. You gave yourself away just by reading it!! I don't take things out on kids that parents do and say that's a little unfair to the kids. Fill free to come to the coaches at anytime rather than to be put on here telling things that are not true.

i dont believe yeame is a untruthful person. And you must not be a very good coach to respond to somethin on here. If you know who the person is then why didnt you go to her/him and express your thoughts. And if you was planning to have a fundraiser for team shoes why didnt you tell the parents instead of the kids. Children shouldnt have to know about what the coaches have planned. Thats why my child does not play sports at pms..... To many wanna be somethin you not people there. Everyone should be treated equal.

If you all do not like the way the coaches are doing things then next year why don't you all step up and coach?

I think it was an option, wasn't it? If you don't want to do it, then don't. It's not that big a deal.

Yes, she is a good coach and she has a lot of interest in the children or she would not be there. I also know who the parent is that started this. It is a Mother. Yes, the children need to know what the coaches have planned. Most of the time the children are the ones selling something and I would say the coach discussed it with them to see if they were interested. How many of you go to the coach and talk to her instead of talking behind her back? If you can't afford more shoes, give up the cigaretts and other bad habits you have for a month and you will have extra money and if you don't like the coach don't let your child play for them. When she gets to JMHS then you can really complain about expenses. The higher in school she goes the more expensive it gets.

Yeahme started this crap in a public forum. If I were the coach I would have responded in kind, only the coach was much more polite. Yeahme goes all over topix spouting her half assed opinion and this is nothing different. A cracker is nothing but a cracker.
