At least the Mayor and Council in Buchanan gave "The Citizens" the chance to VOTE on the issue. Over here in "Possum Snout" out Mayor and Council know what is best for the citizens. The meeting of the minds in "Possum Snout" came to the conclusion that "The Voters" did not want this issue put out to a vote. It is so great that we have mind readers on the Mayor and Council in "Possum Snout".

You advice is taken under due consideration and duly rejected. No need to move because like I said the ability to drink with a meal does not affect me. However I still say let the issue come to a vote. And I will continue to point out items I do not like in Possum Snout. Like the stupid sign at the city limits with Possum Snout and the possum on it. What a joke. I am sure that will attract folks and make them want to move into the cithy. Tallapoosa has a long history and more positive things to put emphasis on other than the name Possum Snout. Yet this is the most prominent thing the minds at City Hall decided to showcase to those coming into town.

OK, to show that I can give praise where it is due. The Mayor and Council of Possum Snout signed an agreement with a company that will in essence bring WIFI to the Possum Snout. Now that is forward thinking, a good items for the citizens and a good step towards attracting people and businesses. However they did ASK the citizens a while back in a survey about this. In other words the citizens had a say in the issue. The way things should be done. Now I realize that the folks elected will not make everyone happy and do not expect them to. But I stand by my statement that I do not need a Mayor and Council making the moral decision to not allow the citizens to vote on the issue of buying a drink with their meal just because they have an issue with it.

Chiming in to say that Possum Snout is the most embarassing thing to Tallapoosa ever, and that says something. May everyone involved in the creation of "possum snout" get crotch rot.

"Possum Snout" was an Indian campground waaaaaay the hell down what's now Broad Street, nearly into Alabama. In no way was the city ever known by such a name.

Get rid of this garbage. It's not all cute like people want to think. And the possum drop just screams, "Hey guys, we're toothless rednecks who wear tube tops to the grocery store in December! Let's stick a stuffed marsupial in a ball and drop that sucker!"

Possum Snout, is, like it or not, part of Tallapoosa's heritage and it will not disappear just because someone doesn't like it. As is true with other embarrassing moments in our past. However, it is unique, and has actually helped put our little town on the map. Because of the originality of the name, it's use in many different aspects of the town (community events, historical markers [which is what you see coming into town] and the like) we have been able to host such events as Possum Drop, which brings in people from all over our nation. Last year, we had visitors from California and Maryland, who came to see Tallapoosa just because of Possum Drop, had no other ties to the area, and would not have otherwise given Tallapoosa a second thought as a good place to visit. So, before you go knocking something because you think it's beneath you, keep in mind how nice it is that your property taxes are kept low.

My city taxes have not been kept low. They have gone up. I understand your point of view but Tallapoosa has much more heritage than reference to stupid Possum Snout.
