As you drive to Waynesville, North Carolina from Bryson City, you'll notice a large billboard that reads, "Clyde's Restaurant : Where the Home Folks Eat." How could you resist a restaurant like this? I had seen the billboard for many years, but didn't know where the restaurant was located in Waynesville.

Clyde's has had great food since the 1960s when I first went there. It is still the same layout it was back then. Great place.

I guess we have gone there at the wrong times! The bread has been moldy & coffee very old. The meat tasted & looked bad.

I've been a few times and found the staff to be unprofessional and the food unappetizing.

I believe the original owners sold the restaurant several years ago. I've heard it has not been the same since Clyde & Mary Lou left.

Clyde's is still owned by the same family, just ask to speak to Mr. Green (there are two). They have made a few things better, but for the most part it is the same as in the 50's. Clyde's is closed on Monday but are wide open and full Tuesday - Sunday. If they were not still one of the best, they would be long gone.
