Competitors break in new Brush Pioneer Skate Park

Skateboarding fanatics from all over northeastern Colorado laid down wheels on fresh pavement in Brush on Saturday during the grand opening of the city's new Pioneer Skate Park, located on Hospital Road near Mill Street. Nearly 50 skateboarders from the county and around the region gathered for the ceremony, which also featured a hardcore competition from Greeley-based Northern3 Company, who brought out skating demos, prizes, tips and tricks, music and more for the event.

After 35 years of working for the Northeast Colorado Association of Local Governments and the Area Agency on Aging, Sandy Baker, shown here just days before her July 31 retirement, no longer spends time dealing with budgets and government regulations in this office at NECALG in Fort Morgan. Baker started as the manager of cooks at the Brush Meet Eat site, working her way up to Area Agency on Aging and Single Entry Point director.

City officials from Fort Morgan and Brush gathered in the basement of the county building Thursday to put together goodie bags for Pedal the Plains. Among the volunteers stuffing bags with informational pamphlets, nuts and other items were Brent Nation, Josh Miller, Collette Brost, Tyler Puruis, Jill Curtis, Sharon Velder, Lisa Northrup and others.

Fourth Annual Sneaker Stroll slated Sept. 28 in Brush

Grocery Kart participating in Register Tapes for Education program

Throughout the 2012-13 school year, Brush Grocery Kart participated in the Register Tapes for Education program to help raise money to purchase much needed school equipment for area schools. John Sweenie of Brush Grocery Kart explained, "We run this program to help provide much needed educational equipment that goes into the classrooms of our customers' children.
