BRITT, Iowa - The small city of Britt in northern Iowa has hired a local police officer as its new police chief.

The Britt Police Department is asking for help finding a runaway teen. Aaron Hult, 15 years old, left his home some time in the late evening of Friday May 10th to early morning hours of Saturday May 11, 2013.

An unseasonable May storm system dropped more than a foot of snow across the central Plains and the upper Midwest on Thursday, closing roads and causing power outages in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The snow continued to fall over central Iowa late tonight. Records were busted through the day as snow came down over an inch per hour.

Transportation officials are warning drivers about slick roads across parts of Iowa that were hit by an unusual spring snowstorm.
