Good for the parade officials. The agreement is right in the application, and they not only broke it, but are now LYING about the fact that they broke it. Sorry, no sympathy, here.

Prohibit giving copies of the Constitution on the 4th of July. What day could be more appropriate for that? Obviously the Bristol parade committee celebrates something else on the 4th of July. Just for the record Tea Parties do not object to paying taxes. They object to the outrageous spending.

What about all the other floats there that handed out items? There were floats that handed out fliers and others that threw lollipops. Are they banned too? Or is this just about political ideals and the inability to respect other peoples opinions?

ProAmerican: No, the prohibition is on handing out ANYTHING. Anyone saying otherwise is not being truthful.
EastCoaster: There were other groups that were banned for handouts and other rules violations. Just because Marina & Co aren't in the loop on that one doesn't mean it didn't happen. There were also other rules violations committed by this group, including soliticing donations from the crowd. |

We've been duped. Found a link.....not nearly as communist as some might hope....
"The Rhode Island Tea Party fanned protest throughout Rhode Island after Bristol parade organizers confiscated the group’s parade-day flyers and told the Tea Party it is not welcome back next year. Parade organizers say they simply enforced the rules that govern all parade participants — no distribution of materials from floats or marchers in the parade. They say the Tea Party float participants were told the rules ahead of time, were warned not to do it, but went ahead and did it anyway. Said parade chairwoman Judy Squires,“Their float was very well done, very tastefully done. We don’t have a problem with the Tea Party at all. The only issue is they were told not to distribute the flyers, and they violated the rules. We would have been upset with any float that did the same thing.” Ms. Squires said the rules exist entirely for the safety of everyone, marchers and spectators. She said it’s dangerous for marchers or float participants to distribute flyers, throw candy, or even hand out copies of the U.S. Constitution, because those actions invite spectators into the street with the moving vehicles. She cited a tragic accident last year in the Tampa Bay, Fla., area, when a 9-year-old boy became entangled in the wheel of a passing float and was killed at a parade." http://www.eastbayri.com/detail/129928.htm Also, here is the group in action http://www.youtube.com/watch... |
