The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent drive-by shooting that killed a 38-year-old woman who was asleep in bed.

A homicide was reported in Brighton early Tuesday morning. Brighton Police and Jefferson County deputies responded and were on scene around 2a.m. The location was a home at 801 Tremont Street, right off Bessemer Super-Highway. No details have been released at this time.
