North Port police officer hurt in fight at Tampa bar

There has yet to be an arrest. A supposed suspect has neither been charged or officialy interviewed by the HCSO HCPO.
The NPPD hasn't released any further information on the status of the supposed internal investigation that is on going to the media.
This has all the ear marks of another "nothing will be heard from again" incident involving the NPPP.

Well the good Capt. who's investigation found no wrong doing on the part of the three NPPD officers must feel a little sick about now.

The Hillsborough Sheriff's office has come out with a different finding.
According to witnesses including the accused assailent, it seems that the injured officer was by all accounts the aggressor in the incident. The off duty officer threw a cup at a man who was arguing with a woman. The man confronted the officer who then spat in his face.
Next came the the fight which the other two NPPD officers broke up. The Hillsborough Sheriff's reports that the injured officer did not know what happened as he had been drinking quite a bit.
Chief Lewis of the NPPD is performing his own investigation into the incidentm

Most cops are fat, out of shape and can't fight! They have been known to get scared and shoot people! Why don't they hire some prize fighters and MMA guys!

NPPD has no internal investigations, that's why their all %@#$'d up and get away with this shit. I've tried to file a complaint. When I asked to speak to IA, I was informed there is no IA and I can only speak to a direst supervisor. A direct supervisor? They probably just fraternize with each-other and have a good chuckle. This is where corruption begins! No checks and balances!

Hell yeh, I bet I could out run the most of them. I would think with their job they would have to maintain a level of physical fitness. I truly despise being inline at 711 behind an officer (NPPD or any other LEO) that's purchasing a Big Gulp and 3 packs of Marlboro Reds. Worst yet, when driving home one day, I saw a Highway patrol car in PC by the Town Center Mall have a vehicle pulled over. It was quite awkward as there were 2 uniforms - one was at the patrol car's passenger door while the other was at the so alleged perps car. The one at the patrol car, while in uniform was smoking. WTF. Officers should be held to a hirer level and defiantly should not smoke while in uniform. They should also have to qualify yearly in regards to running and staying in shape. It's just a job, but it's also a privilege to wear a uniform. This goes for Law Enforcement, Military, and any other entity that is of public service.
