Can't any of you answer my question? You know the answers to everything else. Dirty schools, crooked rodes, and whatnot doesn't tell me why some kids are not in school and why B.O.E. people are turning a blind eye to it. Does money talk & B*llsh*t walk.

The Truth is this are your ready; The people form that area keep voting the same old folks in the same old offices that don't care!! What has John Patt Fanning ever done for Iaeger his home town! Things never or rarely change. Same ol junk trailers with no under pinning, same ol junk cars beside the roads or in yards. No one wants to enforce the laws. Lets take trouble makers in schools; teachers, principles, law enforcement, and or whom ever wont in some cases and can't in some cases put the law down on these kids. I know this, give them the 3 strike rule an then kick them out, take their parents check away that will in prove your schools plus the home life of many. Some manners and respect will come back!

I know for a fact that IHS does have those supplies in their restrooms, but I've also seen students take the toliet paper, and paper towel, and decorate the restrooms with it..don't say it should be in the holders, because at one time it was till the kids tore them off the wall. Maybe the kids needs to learn to respect what they have, and not complain when its gone.

There are kids that get punished for what the mean ass kids do andthey should put someone in there to catch these brats and do something to them instead of punishing everyone! And I know that the kids are mean but I also know that some not all of the janitors need to get off their backsides and do what they are getting paid to do!Then our bathrooms would be more cleaner for our kids to go use and wash their hands to keep from spreading so many germs to each other and the whole school staying sick but they don't care as along as they get their money they care nothing about those kids I'm sure they got their own personal bathroom if they had to use them they wouldn't!

I'm very proud to see that McDowell County is on its way to local control. A lot of much needed changes have been made to improve the quality of education for McDowell County's children. Getting rid of old deteriorating buildings was a major step forward though we all realize that the loss of schools in the communities many times signals the end of once vibrant neighborhoods. Loss of community schools only mirrored the economic realities of McDowell County. It is sad to see the changes in Iaeger, Kimball, Welch and other areas the last 2o years but we owe it to the children remaining to do our best by them to give them every opportunity to succeed. My thanks to all the parents and school personnel who have worked so hard to transform the educational system. I encourage all to continue to give that extra effort after the state returns local control.
If You like the CHANGE so much why did'nt you STAY in McDowell county to HELP with it? When you abandoned the students you did them a great injustice!YOU left the CHILDREN to RAY BAILEY!WHAT a MESS....I live in Tazewell County and I can see what is going on!

I agree with you 2. IHS is a dilapidated building. It is filthy. I hope the janitors do better at the new schools. As for Iaeger, we will gladly take your Homecoming and you can have our Fall Festival. As for Isaban, Send em to Gilbert if you don't want your kids to learn too much. IHS and BCHS has better teachers. Our kids on the mtns had to ride just as long to get to IHS. to concerned it will not be another mt view, either. You must be a another whiny Iaeger resident who wants to send their kid to an old dilapidated moldy building because you still live in the past. I want my kid to go to a new school with Heating and AC. Gladly it is in Bradshaw and my kid willbe there in five minutes, while yours rides an hour plus. WAAAAA WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
im talikin about thwe violence and the metal detectors and all that stuff that goes on in other schools why dont they just build a new school for iaeger and bradshaw

So if someone spends 30 plus years in a given profession helping children and doing the best they can are they not entitled to their retirement?

Way to go! Nicholas Lester, my nephew, was elected Vice President of his class! That shows things are looking up for the area students. He is a very fair young man and is kind to everyone! I believe he will learn form this expeience.

HOLY COW! This is exactly why I stay out of McDowell County. Obviously none of the schools down there are doing their jobs. The grammar on this post is horrible! Do you people read what you write before you post it? For heaven's sake, this is a debate about the education of children and you people seem to be uneducated yourselves. I will definitely keep McDowell County Schools in my prayers.

Honey ,you are dead on when you talk about what J.P. Fanning WON'T do for Iaeger. He's NEVER going to do anything for Iaeger, if Satan was running on the democratic ticket the people in not only Iaeger would vote him in but, the Whole of W.V. would be right there with their ballot. He's been in office for ever and will continue to be in office . I guess MONEY can buy what you want for the right price. Mcdowell county people in general and Iaeger people in particular are going to keep him in office and we'll continue to have the shitty end of the stick!!!!

I asked my children about the rest rooms at SRMS and they told me that the rest rooms in the cafeteria are the nasty ones. They said the ones that are in the lower hall of the school are kept clean. One of my children was telling me how bad it was to try to eat breakfast or lunch with the smell coming from the boys bathroom and he said the locker rooms in the gym wasn't any better. Something should be said about the rest rooms in the cafeteria staying so nasty all the time.

I read these threads and some of you folks just amaze me on what you write. I'm an old cub and a proud one. I enjoyed my years at IHS and am proud to say I went to IHS. We had great teachers and the school was kept clean. I'm sure it also had a lot to do with us the kids. I hate to say but kids today are for the most part are lazy and it's not the kids fault. I've always said things star at home. When we went to school if we did something wrong we were not only in trouble from the teachers but we could expect more problems once we got home. Today the teachers can't do what should be done because as soon as they do the parents are so fast to take the side of the child that it is almost impossible to correct things. I want to make it known I am not a teacher and I am one who over the years just sit back and watch and I can see what goes on.It not only happens in Iaeger, Bradshaw, or War but other towns and cities are the same. Parents need to remember it starts at home. Instead of blaming others and trashing people why don't you step up and help. Those that talk about how bad things are I can just wonder how they live at home. Parents sometimes make it easy for little Johnny or Susie when in fact they need to take a stand and demand more out of their children instead of giving them the easy way out.I have found out of the years if people needs help all one needs to do is ask. People will help people. Especially the people in W.Va. they are caring , good folks. So with the new school opening it would be a great time for the parents to take a stand and work together to make things better than to get on here and trash talk about how bad things are. Do something about it and while you are it may teach your child on how to be a better person. It can't hurt. Just a thought.

when we get back to the godly principles that our nation was founded on, then and only then, will we see changes from the government on down. As the saying goes, what goes on at the head trickles down to the body.

Some of this is funny pointing fingers to ones who had little control.... The reason the schools are in the condition start from the top and ends at the bottom... So it was more the STATES FAUGHT not funding the schools properly!!! and the blame goes directly to the elected officials we put in office in the state and county!!!

I go to Sandy River Middle School and it is the nastyist School I have ever gone to. When I was in 7th grade but I am in the 8th now anyways There was a thang that we had to do befor Homeroom and it was called School Inprovement and we had to goaround and Clean the school, AND miss Garland THE SCHOOLS (janitor) would sit on her butt and tell us what to do we was doing her job so all she was doing was siting on her but and getting payed to do that. Some morning when we sit in the gym you can see bugs and the dirt and dust just roll around the floor. Sometimes You will see her sweep the floors. And onetime when we where cleaning there where 2 girls that had to clean the walls and they where crying becouse she was siting on her butt not doing her job snd that they had to clean.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Leo

A loved one is being rather tetchy today. It won't take much to get on their nerves, even if you think they're being grossly unfair about it. Try not to make the situation worse by being sarcastic or provocative. Instead, encourage them to tell you what's wrong but without raising their voice. Once you know what you've done to irritate them you can start to put it right.
