Ground broken at shipyard site
State and local leaders have broken ground on a massive shipyard hailed as a 'huge economic development' for the state by Gov. Bobby Jindal.
The shipyard would be Edison Chouest Offshore's largest and is expected to create up to 1,000 jobs. Company owner Gary Chouest said he's concerned about being able to find all the workers he needs, given the state's low unemployment rate. However, it's 'not to the point it's going to stop me from doing this project,' he said at Friday's groundbreaking. Read more
