Socorro Student Crowned State Rodeo Queen
Catherine Blythe said she didn't realize the importance of what she had accomplished until it was all over.
The Socorro High senior was crowned New Mexico's High School Rodeo Queen at the state High School Finals Rodeo in Carlsbad on June 5. Now she has the responsibility of being an ambassador for the Land of Enchantment and a role model for the New Mexico High School Rodeo Association.
She has to carry the American flag at every high school rodeo event in the state. And if she doesn't show up at the national finals, the state's team cannot compete. On July 20, Blythe will head to Farmington for the National High School Finals Rodeo and compete to become the National High School Rodeo Association Queen.
