If we look at the recent list of Dam removals the destruction of habitat has been enormus and resulting in loss of many species of fish. This is migration route for various specie and will never be reconstructed. The CT river has never been the same nor will it be a migratory route for water living creatures, shad and salmon, trout etc.
Look into the Community Preservation funds for money from all the bordering towns and those down stream. All towns will be effected, it will be to their benefit to preserve the dam or live with a dry river bed. Now is a time for our Fish & Game to show up to the table and be constructive and not place "dams" in the way to make this process long difficult and expensive. |
