My heart and prayers go to these families and other loved ones. I cannot begin to comprehend the pain that you must be going through in your souls. Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss and may this sort of senseless violence never touch you again. Pray for all of our soldiers, here and abroad.

Procession to take body of slain Ft. Hood soldier from Midway
November 12, 2009 6:47 AM | No Comments
The body of Michael Pearson, one of the two Chicago-area soldiers killed in the rampage at Fort Hood in Texas, is scheduled to arrive at Midway Airport later this morning.

A procession including motorcyclists from the Patriot Guard Riders, a veterans organization, will travel through Pearson's hometown of Bolingbrook--passing Pearson's home, the village hall and Bolingbrook High School--on its way to a Joliet funeral home.

A wake will be held Friday and Saturday morning at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. in Joliet. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Ill., near Joliet.

According to Julie Craig, Pearson's sister, his body is expected to arrive via military aircraft at the National Guard Armory at Midway Airport sometime around 10 a.m.

"He will be coming home today, and at this point the family is planning to meet the escort at the airport," she said. "They (the Patriot Guard Riders) said there's going to be a lot of escorts, so there could be thousands," she said.

"My mother, father,(brother) Kristopher and myself will be going to ride with the escort. The plan now is there'll be a procession through Bolingbrook, and we do plan to pass Bolingbrook High School, which he attended."
