The 92 year old was born in Blountstown, but attended High School in Pensacola because there were no high schools for blacks in his hometown during the 40's. After graduating he moved to Detroit to work for a car maker.

Ford is the owner and operator of Satellite Republic Coffee, a new company located in Marianna whose product has quickly found its way onto local shelves and maybe even into your kitchen's Brewmaster 5000.

One hundred years ago much of what is now Bay County was part of Washington County, with some eastern portions being in Calhoun.

He is the son of Chris and Renae Bridges; and the grandson of Alvin and Kathy Martina of Apalachicola, Denise Johnson of Bristol, and Bernarr Bridges of Blountstown.
