Donnelly was the island's state nurse and administrator of the Mary D Fund, a charity she created to provide year-round residents with needed financial help during the winter months.

Spring is the season when life is re-affirmed, and so it was for Werner Feibes and James Schmitt when they were married on March 22 at 5 p.m. at 17 North Ferry Street in Schenectedy, N.Y., where they moved in 1956 to start a life together.

The Department of Environmental Management will begin working with Block Island to help reduce its deer population, and will meet with some Deer Task Force members on May 14 in a closed work session at DEM's Great Swamp facility in West Kingston.
