Letter was thinly-disguised attack on candidate
Comments on Topix forums : Talk about hypocrisy. The author of the letter, "Things to consider before heading to the polls," , urges us to approach our presidential vote prayerfully and intelligently.

What can be expected from a discredited, historically unpopular political party, which finds Republicans running for cover from their own party identification.
So far, there has been scant (read: none existent) efforts to cite the 'accomplishments' of the current bunch of rogues in the White House, and consequently nothing to commend John McSame for the office of President. From the outset, it has been clear that the only route available to them is to smear, vilify and plant seeds of distrust. The Republicons sole prayer is to scare, fear-monger, besmirch and lie, all standard operating procedures for this bunch of shabby losers. Ignore them. They have nothing. |

Jim, Is that a Black Chopper in your backyard? There are so many things to point to in Obama's pathetic resume & background, I doubt the letter writer was using those you suspect.

The amusing thing about Libs is their examples of behaviour they find objectionable in Republicans. In virtually every case, the outrageous behavior is currently being performed by LIBS! Its their version of "Tell a big enough lie, and SOMEONE will believe it". |
...hey Clyde...ever think of just ONE thing McSame will do differently than Bush?.....hmmm? |
|

Politics politics politics...just imagine the important things you and I could be doing instead of commenting on something that doesnt make a bit of difference. Both of them will do the job no matter who is hired. Neither is any better than the other. They both suck. Now, turn off your computer and go do something WORTHWHILE!

If you're so bothered by it, turn off your own computer and stop trying to tell others what to do. Why do you believe your personal pronouncements are of such lofty value? |

Tell a big lie enough, eh? You mean like the criminal traitors Bush and Cheney did in lying us into their designer war? Okay, demonstrate factually that your diversionary comment is factual. Your opinion is not enough, bub. Oh, and just to point out that Obama's appeal is far broader than your fantasy of him only appealing to leftists, etc., consider this latest news: "A new analysis shows the vast majority of US troops serving abroad have donated to candidates running on strong anti-war platforms, with presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama out-raising his Republican opponent by a 6-to-1 margin." "...Despite McCain's status as a decorated veteran and a historically Republican bent among the military, members of the armed services overall -- whether stationed overseas or at home -- are also favoring Obama with their campaign contributions in 2008..." http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Troops_giving_6... You characters have really got to step up the smearing, character assassination and fear-mongering to have a prayer of scaring enough people to vote for that doddering, quasi-senile Bush clone. |

Not being republican what do I get to say about a candidate who says he will raise capital gains taxes during a business slow down even though he understands that it will hurt business. The reason he gives is " fairness", what kind of idiocy would allow anyone to serioulsy consider voting for a candidate with ideas like that? Before you retort, " (fill in the blank) is worse" let me advise you that in order to get my vote you have to come up with something better than , " we suck less." John Mc cain will not get my vote, nor will Barak Obama.....if these two are the best we can do in a nation of 300 million then perhaps it is time to admit the Republic is dead and it is time to move onto the inevitable decline of the USA. How is that for a less than thinly disguised attack on what I, and many others, perceive as two back benchers? |

Aside from closing the borders, and wasting time with the likes of Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, etc, I hope not. |

Many people feel much as you do, to wit, with so many bright and talented people in this country, is this all we have to choose from? Clearly, for whatever reason, the answer is 'yes' this is the choice. I have no 'retort' other than to say that I have not made, nor will I make, the 'this side sucks less' argument for Obama, which is precisely the argument the McSame side is trying to make (in between the loud, incessant sounds of sabres rattling). I'm not clairvoyant, and have no way of knowing, but am betting the Obama will be far better than the ruinous clowns currently sullying the White House, and far better than the confused McSame. "How is that for a less than thinly disguised attack on what I, and many others, perceive as two back benchers? " How is it? Fine. At least you deserve credit for giving a straight answer based upon your views, without jumping on the smear, insult and divert bandwagon. |

And you are perfectly free to support the most incompetent, dishonest and unpopular president in U.S. history if you wish. Next to Chimpy, Jimmy Carter seems a model of propriety and intellect. Hell, even Nixon seems benign in comparison. |

Their all crooks. The Democrats are just better at it.

Finally someone gets it. We have been had people. We have the 2 candidates the media pushed down our throats since the first primaries. This country is in serious trouble and neither one of these candidates has what it takes to get us out of it.I think Obama is a pretty decent guy and I don't buy most of the crap about him being unpatriotic or racist. I don't think McCain is senile or the second coming of Bush either. Its all just left wing right wing spin and means nothing. But I tell you what I do see. If all of this partisan crap doesn't end sometime soon we may be fighting a civil war in our own country. Were all Americans. The two major parties need to learn to compromise All of the hate and intolerance shown on this board by both the so called liberals and so called conservatives is a prime example of why people like myself are looking for a good third party candidate or so disgusted with the whole process that they just don't vote at all. If you disagree with me that's great to. This is America. That's your right.Just keep the personal insults out of it. |

Liber ... nice post and I agree ... neither one of these guys is worth my vote.
Nothing personal but I would not vote for a libertarian either ... too much about me and not enough about people in need. I would love to see more political parties, especially progressive one ... what we have now are demopublicans that get funding from the same companies and do nothing for the people. We have become a facist country. Peace, |

Jim. let your imagination run wild. In November this election will be over and you and I will find another issue to concern ourselves with.
I hope you will vote and encourage everyone you come in contact with to do the same. I hope you realize that the selection of persons to be members of the congress as important important as the person we select to be our next president, especially considering that the future of this country is so fragile. I do not want a small percentage of us select the next group of leaders of this country! |

Thanks Douglas. And I don't take the libertarian part as in insult. To me being a libertarian is more of a lifestyle choice than a political one . Their is a lot of the libretarion philosphy I don't agree with, such as doing away with public schools and selling our national park lands to private developers and the self centered aspect of some libertarians as you mentioned.I do agree with one of the libertarian parties basic premises that using force against another person to get them to do anything is wrong and their strong support of the second amendment.I completely agree that both of the major parties get so much money from corporate interests that the American people wind up getting screwed regardless of which party gets elected.Hell I would like to see at least three or four more parties .It might me be kind of chaotic but at least we would get a wider choice in candidates. Hope you have a great weekend. |

Because he is an American and that right is guaranteed by our constitution. he was giving his opinion. Nothing wrong with that. |
Thus far Clyde your mouth (figuratively speaking) has runneth over but nothing but dribble comes out. Why not start pointing to those things that you make to as being so "pathetic". The "pathetic" thing is not the other writers but your astonishing facade at being intelligent. |
|
He was giving his opinion at first, but then used a declarative sentence to tell others what to do. He didn't say "it is my opinion everyone should turn off their computer." Read it again. |

.You are correct my mistake. I guess I skimmed over the post a little to fast. Thanks for pointing that out. I was busy watching the news about Russia threatening to use nukes against Poland and was a little distracted.Isn't that some scary sh!t? |
