Pony rescued from well in Black Forest

According to the Black Forest Fire Department, the pony wandered into a well house looking for hay that sometimes was stored there and fell 12 feet through a particle board covering a concrete foundation housing the well machinery.

Black Forest fire victims file federal lawsuit

Nearly 60 residents, whose homes were damaged or destroyed in the Black Forest Fire, have filed suit against the Black Forest Fire District, El Paso County and the State of Colorado, alleging negligence in the handling of the blaze. In the complaint, Fortner claims that the state and county failed to use resources that were available to them, that Fire Chief Robert Harvey failed to turn over command in a timely manner, and that El Paso County's Assistant Deputy Fire Marshal, Scott Campbell, ignited a control burn the same day the Black Forest Fire started.

Report: Teen drove 80 mph in crash that killed 2 near Black Forest

A Mini Cooper carrying four teens near Black Forest on Monday morning ran through a stop sign, went airborne three times, struck a fence, rotated and then pinballed through a set of trees and down an embankment at about 80 mph before coming to rest, according to an accident report. The crash hurled 17-year-old Beau Begier, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt, through the car's convertible roof, according to the Colorado State Patrol report.
