I love how all these government bureaucrats go on about how a building would make a great restaurant, development, etc. How many of them have ever done a real estate development. It is easy to talk about how you would do it, but fact is, most of them couldn't do it if their lives depended on it, which is why they are entombed in government jobs.

Pfft. My thesaurus says Habitable and Inhabitable are synonyms. Sort of like flammable/inflammable.

I'm pretty sure the building that is the Courtyard was actually an addition to the original hotel, which stood where Dunks is today.

It's interesting how they can go after a "historic building", but if you call about a house being remodeled illegally ( and badly), no smoke or carbon monoxide detectors with a 40 yr old furnace and possibly now rented to a family with small childre, they do nothing.

The only reason this building is still standing is because the termites are holding hands.....

My cousin, a former prostitute, used to live there and still battles with the chronic toe fungus she acquired during her residency there to this day

Those termites have been holding hands and singing Kumbaya since the 60's. Lucky for the building that they're a tight bunch. LOL.

I recall drinking a beer on the Courtyard patio not more than a year or two ago and being surprised to see a guy with his wife and small daughter on the porch above.

Another very unsightly mess greeting visitors and citizens alike is the former Household Furniture building where merchandise is now offered for sale apparently from cellars and attics. This merchandise is old, dirty, often broken and the door is never open for business. The windows are smashed and then taped together. You have to use a telephone number to access the salesmen for to purchase the junk. This is a terrible mess for visitors to see when entering the city via Market St. to Central St. Previous complaints about this eyesore have not resulted in the owners cleaning it up. At one time it was considered unsafe to enter. Yet the mess remains,

I do not notice the condition of this building because I am too busy trying to get by the illegally parked auto parts trucks and the beer delivery trucks off-loading their wares through the cellar windows on Green St. What kind of payoff does it take to let these trucks park on Green St.?
