It's actually not A Latin King. Gangs have more than one person in them. More than one gang is TROUBLE for the residents who have lived here all our lives'. There are people in Pembrook who need to be there because they're not able to afford decent housing. They are being held "captive" in their homes' because of the drugs and gangs. It has always been a "haven" for trouble.

"Zeek" got himself killed. It doesn't matter what he did in the past to you, but it led to his death. Wouldn't you rather have your friend here than on a slab in the morgue. Stop making excuses and do something about it if you feel so passionate about your friend. when are ex-gang members going to start to re-habilitate their own? We don't understand why they do what they do. You do-so start a new day by doing something positive and get rid of the drugs and gangs. Talk to your friends intead of putting these people down for not having sympathy for him. People like Zeek scare people like us. No, we don't know Zeek. Thank God. We don't asssociate with people who are out at all hours of the night doing lord knows what. Why was he in Bethlehem when he lives in Allentown? People use the fact that they have no car, so they can't work. They surely can get rides to go do their thing(at wee hours of the morning) We sleep at night, like normal people. If you associate with people like that and talk the way you did on here-You are NOT a "Young Lady."

I saw the article about the police closing streets for this latin king scumbags funeral. A small child on a rooftop with a bottle of beer in each hand with adult scumbags around him. Great example setting, fools. Seems to me the good guys missed an opportunity. We should have detonated a tactical nuke over the area and wiped out a whole bunch of these gangbanger losers.

your comment made me check out the photo slide show on the morning call site...

the dead loser had a teardrop tattoo---which means he killed somebody....and he's shown with his mom who looks 12 years, at the most, older than him---i thought it was a photo of him and his girlfriend!

You are right, teardrop tattoo is supposed to mean you killed someone, alot of times these "tough-guys" get the tattoo for appearence alone, so people THINK they killed someone. I did a lot of research on gangs for a paper I did in college on the subject. The truth is, young men (and women) join gangs to give them a sense of belonging and family that they may not have at home. It is also for protection. In some areas (such as East LA or Compton, CA) it is extremely dangerous to NOT be in a gang, and good kids are harrassed and threatened and cajoled.

I do not in any way condone the gang lifestyle (which this young man does appear to be a part of, from his gold and black clothing and tattoos). Nor do I condone his murder. I do find it sad, however, that so many young people in our society feel that joining a gang is their only alternative.
Im sure I'll be called a "bleeding heart liberal" but I'd rather have a bleeding heart than a hardened one, like those of you who feel the need to damn and critize a young man you never met. Again- not condoning his lifestyle or actions. I believe the whole thing is a tragedy. This young man's life was lost the second he decided to join a gang.
