1 There are a lot of soccer moms, and she's gotten dozens of them to register as Republicans. I hear over 200 new registrations and switchers as of 12:00 today, not to mention the soccer dads in the doghouse if they don't vote for Craybas. By tomorrow night this will be known as the revenge of the schoolies! |

so its ok for town employees to belly up to the public trough without regard for the needs of the schools? you can cut the hypocrisy in your post with a knife. you tin-foil-hat loons are running out of things to say! |

I re-read your reply and you were probably not as rude as I first thought.Apologies.I took offense to this comment: "TAKE A BASIC CITIZEN CLASS IF YOU NEED TO!" I am extremely well-versed in local and state government and I can assure you that Boards of Ed were created to be the citizens' representative in vetting through what the schools need vs. what they want. You have identified a fundamental difference in our philosophies when you state that "Matt worked on the BOE to get the best deal for the schools that he could" - a flawed philosophy I must respectfully submit if there ever was one.(If Matt ran on that slogan, I assure you he will lose.) Matt was elected by the taxpayers - all with different agendas. I didn't expect that you could address one of the most basic falsehoods: Matt was on TV echoing (by affirmation) Mr.Bartlett's comments that Bob Burke took a raise - a particularly sensitive, damaging, and false statement in a time where pay to play was coming back. Why did he say that? It bothers me. Most do not follow things as closely as I do in this town. Chesley has some skeletons, but he has done a fine job in my opinion. I'm not worried about him and we are lucky to have him. The school budgets were defeated about 4 times in a row. It had me worried because fellows like Matt and others of the SOS. PTO's, Bethel Ed Foundations told me my child's education would really suffer. But I guess it hasn't suffered as things have turned out. Now that got me to thinking: maybe there's a difference between what they want and what they need. A reasonable conclusion was that it was propaganda - albeit from nice people, trying to help the kids, but propaganda nonetheless. Up until now, I have seen zero track record from MK of any willingness to budget cut on the education side - ever, or until the town votes a budget down. In fact, on an ongoing basis he has been extremely vocal about how the Burke administration is disassembling education in this town when the opposite seems to be happening. One of the first falsehoods was that we were going to lose the $25,000,000 if we didn't get the shovels in the ground immediately a few years ago. Bob Burke rightfully delayed the project 2 months, got additional funding and the school was completed in a timely fashion.(Do you remember the unfounded OSHA inquiry? Was he trying to delay the completion to reflect unfavorably on Bob?) If you think there's none of this baloney coming from all political groups in this town and you are only blaming the Republicans, I suggest most politely that you may have a selective memory. Straiton is an excellent choice. Slifkin is highly qualified and generally acquiesces to the school groups (i.e. he lobbied BBA to pay for the varsity baseball uniforms last year). Szatkowski - nice guy, but seems to have flip-flopped on Bob Burke - so is he telling the truth now (or 2 years ago? Can't have it both ways.) Craybas - maybe inexperienced, too strong a connection to BOE, gave account of Jordan-Burke issue as if he was there...seems pretty sharp, but I don't know. Well-liked in town from what I see and hear. (CONTINUED) |

1 Don't take it for granted that there will be an overwheleming ground swell to dispose of Bob Burke and his cronies. We need to send a clear message that bullies, adulterers, stalkers and harrassers will not be tolerated in high office in Bethel. Larry Craybas is a fine family man, and a much needed breath of fresh air. Please register your complaint about the current FS and vote against Burke by voting for Craybas in today's Republican Primary. |
