Dozens of emaciated cows found on property near Liberty Hill

A July 18 complaint about neglected cattle led the Williamson County Sheriff's Livestock Unit to a 180-acre property west of Liberty Hill, where deputies found a "boneyard" of nine cow carcasses. Deputies returned to a nearby property in the 19000 block of West State Highway 29 - in between Bertram and Liberty Hill - on Tuesday, finding seven cows that were sick and emaciated, including one that was trapped under a barbed wire fence and lacked the strength to stand.
