This article seems to missing the results of the hearing. Jail? What gives here? Sounds like statutory rape to me. It sure is amazing that mothers around here don't seem to know where their teenage daughters are these days. And the guy?. Duh, " I thought she was 17." What is a 13 year-old doing in his apartment? MOTHERS! Wake up.

what is the guy blind? He can't tell the difference between a 13 year old and a 17 year old? Must have been the drugs and alcohol. Did he think she might be 17 before this happened or after when he found out what the age of consent was?

Wankee when was the last time you even looked at a girl?:-)
I agree the parents are responsible to know where their children are at all times. I also am not blind. Some of these children dress so much older Plus the use of makeup can hide the real age of a child. My guts feeling is that Mr. Danforth did know how old this child was. |

OMG1- You're right, I don't dare look at anybody under 25 anymore. Maybe Mom should help her pick out some more appropriate 13-yo clothes and wipe some of that makeup off her. Where is the parental responsibility BEFORE the event?
"she had visited with Danforth in his apartment on Depot Street" What is a 13 year old doing visiting a much older man at his apartment? Playing Nintendo? More than likely getting high or drunk. Mom ought to be checking up on her a little more carefully or maybe Dad )if there is one). |

first of all, you can tell the difference between 13 year olds and 17, second of all girls dont have to have a lot of make up and clothes to make them look older. you cant blame this on the girl, or her mother. Mothers dont always know where their kids are as much as they want to. I bet all your relatives know your whereabouts what 24/7. apparntly you should blame the judgement of mr danforth, not the girl. Rape is you not giving consent she could have had a smiling face the whole time, they could have been in the middle of the act and her sayin no once, is rape.

Good point, we teach that "No means no". It's about time these perverts learned it too. If she said "no" then it's not about why she was there, or if her mother knew it. If she said "no" then he broke the law. PERIOD. |

I am not excusing what Danforth did, but again, 13 year olds girls shouldn't be hanging out at an adult males apartment. was she lured there? The news item doesn't say so. did Mom know she was there? I doubt it. should Mom have known? if it were my daughter, I would make it a point to know where she is and check up after her to make sure she is being truthful about her whereabouts. that is what being a parent is about, teaching your kids to make wise choices even when you are not around.

I agree. Completley. NO question. I just don't want to see anyone attacking the VICTIM, or her family. Why she was there and who knew about is a moot point. 13 year old girls tend to lie to their parents when they assume the parents will say "no", and they don't get caught all the time.(I'm having such an "if I knew then, what I knew now" moment just writing this). I don't mean for the victim to not take responsibility for her own actions and mistakes either. I'm just saying the issue here is what this man did. Whatever the circumstances, it doesn't make what happened her fault. No means no. Rape is rape, and it is NEVER excusable.

Honestly you could be like 30 and nobody know your whereabouts but then do you think its alright to rape them? NO, and if you want to put the blame on the victims mother or her its disgusting because he did this to her, and you could be in a marriage and still be raped not LURED into an apartment. what happened, happened and coming up with excuses for it is dumb. you should know NO MEANS NO. no exceptions. |

Good ole Billy up to his old tricks! He's locked up now isn't he?
