I hear that there are plenty of vacancies for a "medical" MJ dispensary at the Nut Tree strip mall.

Well JimBOY Spering, You crook ! I'm sure you want the voters to think your against this and I'm sure in the back of your head your thinking...Hey, how can I make some cash on this deal. Just like all the contracts in Solano that went to your paving company not to mention that city credit card trick you pulled over on the tax payers. Some of us know who you really are. Some of us don't and some of us just pretend.

About time.

Although I don't understand the whole location issue. In Vacaville, The Nut Tree strip mall would be a good place for one. So would down town. The best spot would be in the little strip mall across from the cop shop. Better yet, Blockbuster Video is closing.

The Nut Tree would be the best spot. It's historic and well known. Plus, it has land to grow the stuff. Vacans could grow, harvest, stock the shelves, sell the cannabis. Tourism would flourish & tax dollars would flow.

About time someone took a stand on the stall tactics of moratoriums.

Bernardini is incorrect saying that Dixon has done anything like the county. Dixon also refused to do a moratorium but the majority, illegally, overturned the ordinance allowing a legal business to operate within the city limits. A lawsuit will certainly make Dixon a test case.

The point is the supervisors have to step up and take the issue on. California law says it is legal and defines what can and can't be done. For Stanton to say that it is muddled when the Obama Administration has now put it in writing that they won't prosecute medical use shows just how much the judicial system believes in obeying laws they don't believe in.

These are professionally run "non-profits" that are safer than liquor stores as far as violent crime associated with them. It is time to move beyond "reefer madness", the film from the 50's, and allow people their constitutional freedoms of life, liberty to choose, and being really happy instead of just pursuing it ....

Dixon....yep, there are some intelligent folks on that board. They lost $14000 trying to force one of their own to bring his home into 'code.'

How much will they lose before they must face reality?

Why the sarcasm about putting a dispensary at the Nut Tree? The businesses there could sure use more foot traffic. Just ask them. Redicules rents with half of the place empty.

And as in all things, the more dispensaries, the competition will keep costs down. Just folks need to be careful about signing a Tripple Net leases at $3.00 a foot. You will not be able to stay in business. The landlords will be taking all the monies from the ban on dispenaries.

They did want Dr offices in the building with the second floor. A Medicine dispensary should be just as good. Too bad the prices for office space there are outragous.
Good for Vacaville on allowing medicine to be sold for those who need it.

Interesting times ahead for sure. I wish they would just legalize the stuff and I don't even smoke and I'm in my 30's. I just hope they are smart and regulate and tax it similiar to tobacco and alcohol. What's sad is just like cig's you'll find 14 year old kids smoking up cuz it's kewl, not that they don't already but they'll be able to snake it from legit places etc.

Well, I have a place to grow it, out in the suburbs, 5 acres not far from town. Seems even a half acre could do well. If someone wants to open the building, let's partner up.

I am also a parent of 5 kids. The last 2 are Sophmores at VHS. I can honestly tell you, having smoked pot as a young adult and occasionaly drinking as a teenager, I would rather see my kids smoke pot than drink. That said, I agree, I would prefer they did not try either one until they were old enough.

I know that enough high school kids that want pot already have it. Might even be easier to get then alcohol.

Also, I think, I maybe wrong, the laws of the land are actually harsher for under age drinkers than for pot smokers. There is zero tolerance for booze younger than 21. If you are 20 and get caught with a small amount of pot, it means nothing.

It is just time to be adult and treat smoking pot as any other vice. Is 21 to old? Treat it like cigs and you can get buy it at 18? Or do we treat it like booze and make folks wait till 21?

Pot is not cocaine, meth, heroine, LSD etc.......and it should not be lumped in the same categories. Even Alcohol is far more dangerous. Y

170 Layoffs= Vasquez, Spering, Regan "For"
Kondylis, Seifert "Against"

Management pay=Vasquez, Spering, Regan "For"
Kondylis, Seifert "Against"

$25000 bonus on top of their $94000 salary
Vasquez, Spering, Regan "For"
Kondylis, Seifert "Against"

10% Raise while essential county service workers (CPS social workers, Sheriffs Dept, Road workers) lose their jobs.

Vasquez, Spering, Regan "For"
Kondylis, Seifert "Against"

Does anyone notice a pattern here? I do. Never eating another taco at vasquez deli.

This is a statement from Vasquez bio
"Of major importance to John is the preservation of agriculture, public safety, transportation, veterans and economic development throughout Solano County. In addition, happy, healthy and safe children in Solano County are a necessity."

Do you keep children safe by laying off CPS workers?

I am no economist but it seems to me medical marijuana is a good way to raise some money for this cash strapped county.

Spering said he can count to three, heh? Just shows you don't need an open mind to sit in judgement of others. I thought when a land use project allowed under the zoning comes up before the planning commission or board of supervisors, it is supposed to be considered on its individual merits; i.e., the decision makers are supposed to consider the project on its merits; i.e., on whether it meets the required criteria for approval of a permit, without pre-judgement. Perhaps someone should read Spering the rulebook for being a supervisor.

I'm glad Supervisor Spering can count to three. Way to have an open mind on something that affects the public! Do you also know how to count the tax dollars it would bring in? Duh.....

If Spering could count past 3, he might be able to count the tax dollars. However, the problem with the majority of Solano county is that everyone is a judgemental hypocrit. They are quick to point a finger just to keep eyes off of them long enough to stuff their pockets, and that includes law enforcement. So I say to all out there be careful what you do, someone always sees you!!!

Although the majority of us seem to agree that the time has come for pot to become legal, we have one huge issue:

Medical Marijuana should not be taxed!!! If dispensaries sell Medical MJ, then maybe they can sell pipes, bongs, paper...that sort of thing, for sales tax. Taxed Medical Marijauna is wrong.

I am not willing to compromise taxing a medication. Other pain relief/RX drugs are not taxed. Pot should be no different!

Recreational Marijuana should be taxed. Head shops have been around for decades. Sell it there. Tax it to bring the music programs back to our schools. Even at 100% tax, it would be cheaper than buying it on the street, coupled with the tax burden relief of imprisoning people for selling pot.

Daily Horoscope for December 3

Sagittarius

You're in rather a downbeat mood, Sagittarius, and you definitely need cheering up. Unfortunately, it's heavy weather at the moment, as Mars slows and the cosmos rather disturbed, but later in the month is wonderful for you. Money problems are particularly difficult to deal with right now, because you can't help worrying about them. Now that prevents you seeing the best course of action to solve them. Relax, even miserable moods soon pass.
