Whats with the headline? So far I am not seeing "BF" riled up. Roger may be in charge of the Chamber of Commerce and the Trustee chairman, but he is not BF. Way to go, run off another source of tax revenue and maybe even a job or two. No worries, the homeowners will continue to pay the bill.
Everything will be OK now that we have the grass cutting ordinance. We don't need any businesses or jobs anymore. |

Instead of pandering to people's superstitions and neuroses, why not convince them that it's just another business?
The crematory right in downtown Brattleboro hasn't driven business away, or people. Then again maybe Bellows Falls is aware they're not a desirable location to begin with? |

Hey yeah I almost forgot about that! Good to know the town powers that be are paying attention to the important things. I mean, nice neat lawns will bring people to Bellows Falls in DROVES, right? Seems like the major thing that BF wants NIMBY is... anything sensible. |

you people are real stupid if you pass any buisnesses that want to come to bf up, if you do then dont keep crying about taxes ,i have never seen such a lazy community in my life get off your asses and go to the meetings there must be some brain cells that have ideas to help the town or village so far there is always the same 1 to 3 people that show up out of how many???? this is pretty sad

This might be a real opportunity to bring a new meaning to the word Biomass electric generating station. Corps to Kilowatts?

Hey hey hey!! Don't be confusing the Chamber of Commerce and Zoning Board and Trustees with "the people". |
Say again, the "railroad, which is one of the area’s most popular tourist destinations".
Riccio is also concerned about the effect the crematorium could have on the railroad, which is one of the area’s most popular tourist destinations. "Is Thomas [the Tank Engine] even going to want to come back with a crematorium here?" he said. "We want to know what the impact this could have on other businesses in the area." |
Be creative, people. Turn this into something positive for the Village. How about calling it the Green Mtn Fryer?
or maybe this is the new energy source... a way to turn the greying of Vermont into renewable energy?? |
Why don’t put a boiler and turbine in then sell the electricity back into to the grid...say it is almost energy neutral.
Better yet, seeing the aging and dying of the nascent 1960’s environmental movement generation...as a marketing mechanism... we make your cremation as CO2 neutral? Your last altruistic deed for all of us? |
heres an idea and i bet alot of people would buy into this .......how about get a steam engine to run the rails and turn it into the creamatorium ..... now we can get creamated and go on one last train ride and our ashes can be spread throughout the beutiful countryside of the connecticut river valley or williams river valley from here to chester
on another note,,,,, on things smoking.....how many of our town fathers and folks noticed the mural of the clock towers time?????? it is 4:20 hmmmmmm for those that dont know this term here it is......4:20 is the time and date where people gather to celebrate and consume cannabis pot dope marjuana... town is more messed up then ya thought isnt it
So overeating and being overweight would have some societal benefit...she’d take the passenger train ten miles down the rail, and while he will take it down 30 miles?
Wouldn’t you like to turn a dead body into a sterile liquid fertilizer...how environmental is that? |
Seriously i am so impressed with the out pouring of comments from anyone that actualy lives in Bellows Falls how old are you people that have left all these stupid and childish remarks ????? Seems maybe a few need jobs or someway to spend their "talents" a lil more productively GROW UP

I am from Rockingham and I do not want to see this happen at this location. It is were we have the Farmers Mkt and other events I don't want to go buy my vegetables and eat a Friday evening dinner in the summer where smoke is coming out of a stack where people are being cremated.Do we really need another place to have people cremated? And didn't Westminster go through this a couple years ago when someone wanted to put one up next to Allen Bros.
Boy, some people are really fired up over this. They hope the project will go down in flames.
And exactly what is wrong with a crematorium? A modern new installation will be clean as a whistle, will not have conspicuous signs, or otherwise draw attention to itself. BF could use all the employment opportunities available. NIMBYism gone wild. |
Why can’t they have the furnace out in the sticks and the parlor in town?
I'm also in town, and Betty's right, it shouldn't be by the farmers' market.
It's also a silly place for a chapel. This is an industrial building, across the street from another, larger, abandoned mill building, near the railroad tracks. A chapel should be someplace beautiful. If the business plan depends on the chapel, the business will fail. Then the building, having been converted to an incinerator, might be too expensive to convert back to a productive, long-term use. |
What zoning district do you suggest that this buisness be located? Would it be better placed in residential or industrial rather than the proposed commercial district?
Considering Brattleboro’s problem with theirs...I would make sure the facility is built accounting to strict fire codes and that they keep up with maintenance and tune ups of the furnace.
