BF Trustees to maintain one meeting a month

The village board of trustees decided to not fix something most of its members don't consider broken and voted Tuesday to maintain the once-a-month meeting schedule it started for the summer. The trustees, like many other similar boards, traditionally go from two meetings every month to just one once the summer hits because numerous people go away on vacations and there are typically fewer pressing issues facing the village.

Vermont State Police say an autopsy on a 5-month-old girl found unresponsive at her Bellows Falls home has provided no clear answer on what caused her death. Detectives said Wednesday the Vermont Chief Medical Examiner's office was conducting additional tests following the death of Emily Branch last weekend.

Vermont State Police investigating death of infant in Bellows Falls

Authorities are investigating after an infant died over the weekend in the southern Vermont town of Bellows Falls, located in Windham County about 30 miles north of the Massachusetts border. Five-month-old Emily branch was unresponsive when the child's mother, Tammy Sears, returned home from work late Saturday night.

Belows Falls Boys & Girls Club using library space

The afterschool program of the Bellows Falls Boys & Girls Club has a temporary new home, as the Rockingham Free Public Library offered its space after the club's Church Street facility was vandalized last week. The first session of the children's program was held Monday.

Westminster's first trash disposal meeting tonight

The town has five options to consider for recycling and trash disposal and the first of two public hearings aimed at harvesting residents' input is scheduled for tonight at 7 p.m. Westminster Town Manager Russ Hodgkins expects the town to end curbside pick-up on June 30, 2015, and he has researched other alternatives over the past several months. He also has met with Bellows Falls/Rockingham Municipal Manager Willis D. "Chip" Stearns II to discuss options that include Rockingham.

Selectboard agrees to sign letter of support for Chroma

The Rockingham Selectboard voted Tuesday to sign a letter to the Windham County Economic Development Program in support of the Bellows Falls Area Development Corporation's plan for a former industrial site in downtown Bellows Falls. Selectboard Vice Chairwoman Susan Hammond and member Peter Golec voted to sign the letter drafted by Chairman Tom MacPhee as a way to relay the Selectboard's belief that the project conforms with the Rockingham Town Plan.
