Forest Service Announces Prescribed Burns
Smoke will likely be visible Wednesday and Thursday in the Flagstaff area as crews from the U.S. Forest Service light intentional fires to burn away excess growth that could lead to wildfires.
Monsoon season is 10th-driest on record
Prescott saw its 10th-driest monsoon season on record this year, and so far it's also the eighth-driest calendar year on record.
Rest area closed through Wednesday
The Parks Rest Area was closed today due to problems with the water system. The repairs that are needed necessitate the entire system to be shut down for about three days.
Tentative Prescribed Fire Plans for The Week of Sept 21
Approximately 320 acres of broadcast burning off Hwy 180 and Snowbowl Road. Smoke is expected to move northeast with the forecast winds; some residual smoke will likely settle around the Baderville area overnight.
The city-owned theater has had free use of a 1,000-square-foot bay and a 2,500-square-foot area for its green room and offices.
Tucson man arrested in radar van vandalism
A Tucson man has been arrested on suspicion of damaging a photo radar vehicle in Northern Arizona.
