Food and shelter are the most pressing needs for the homeless - but what about health care?
A small but determined team of health-care workers is fanning the county to bring basic care to this growing population. Along the way, they help the homeless sign up for government health insurance and refer them to the health department clinics for specialized care.
'It's saving taxpayers money,' said Yanick Gribkoff, program manager and one of the team's two nurses. 'We're able to prevent the homeless from ending up in the hospital.'
