Former officer acquitted of on-the-job misconduct with strippers

A former police officer from eastern Illinois accused of forcing himself on seven strippers was acquitted Thursday of sexually assaulting one of the women and official misconduct after one of his accusers admitted she lied to police.
The woman's decision to recant and testify in David Lewis' defense raises questions about at least one of the five cases he still faces.
Lewis, 46, was found guilty in October 2007 of assaulting a 25-year-old who danced at the Play Pen Gentlemen's Club in 2005. He worked as a part-time officer in Belgium, just south of Danville, near the Indiana border. Read more
