The North Dakota Department of Transportation and the North Dakota Highway Patrol have extended their No Travel Advisory to the southwest part of the state due to heavy snow, near zero visibility and icy conditions.

As Kurt Kordon, co-owner of Northern Plains Erosion Control LLC, was driving down the road he noticed the straw wattles - long, thin straw bales seen in the ditches and medians along the interstate - and figured the demand for them would be high with the large amount of road construction in the area.

North Dakota's Game and Fish Department will hold spring advisory board meetings in eight cities around the state this month.
