Drunkenness charge against officer refused
A public drunkenness charge filed in March against a Freemansburg police officer was dismissed Wednesday minutes before it was to be heard in court.
District Judge Diane Repyneck of Lower Saucon Township said she dismissed the charge against officer Kevin Kovalovsky based on a motion made by Kovalovsky's attorney, John P. Karoly Jr., of Allentown.
Kovalovsky, 32, was cited for public drunkenness by John P. Lakits, an officer in his own department, after he was seen to be intoxicated on the 700 block of Washington Street, Freemansburg, in the early morning after St. Patrick's Day. He was mailed a citation and faced fines and fees of $153.
