This was such a tragic accident and was completely unavoidable from what was described. I came upon the accident while traveling in Texas and it makes you really think about these construction sights. I was in that very spot a week before and was concerned with this vary thing happening then. My prayers and thoughts go out for the families left behind and those who survived this horrific accident. God Bless

Unfortunately, I was one of the first few people on the scene of this terrible accident Monday morning Aug 3. I was aproximately 50 yards behind the truck when this unfolded. I, along with several others, did try to assist in everyway possible until police and medical help came. I am deeply saddened and hurting by what I witnessed and will keep all of the families involved in my prayers. I found this on the web and I am responding because I cannot stop thinking about you. God bless you all.

No accident is completely unavoidable. Aren't these construction zones marked well ahead of the construction? That means take extra caution and start slowing down now, not when you reach the construction and that goes for you 4-wheelers too! I have also been in stopped traffic on I-35 and the vehicle behind me was hit by an 18 wheeler hauling steel to Kansas. He never touched his breaks either and totaled that vehicle, my pick up and damaged a 3rd. This occurred in full daylight in dry conditions. You must wonder what the 25 year old driver was thinking as he was passing all the other stopped vehicles in the other two lanes. Luckily for us, two of us were only slightly injured. There are too many careless, reckless and unqualified "truck drivers" on the road and too many innocent people being killed and injured by their carelessness. The great majority of truck drivers are safe and courteous but the only ones you notice are the bad ones. I have been driving in the city and over the road since 1976 for major freight lines and my pet peave is tailgating, especially by another 18 wheeler. I worked with one these killed in this accident and prayers to the survivors.
