Beach Haven Times Police Log 8/27/08

- Richard A. Carnahan, 23, of Barnegat Light was arrested at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 19 at Kelly's Restaurant on the strength of two outstanding felony warrants. He was taken into custody without incident and lodged at Ocean County Jail, pending extradition to Plattsburgh, N.Y. Sgt. Steven Melega, Detective Jeffrey Ehlers, K-9 unit Patrolman Michael Thompson and the Ocean County Sheriff's Warrant Team served the warrant. - Michael T. Longo, 23, of Barnegat was arrested at 2:19 a.m. Aug. 16 at the intersection of 79th Street and Long Beach Boulevard in the Brant Beach section of the township on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Police observed Longo's car fail to maintain a lane of travel and stopped him. Further investigation revealed he was intoxicated. Longo was arrested and transported to headquarters for processing. He was released pending a future court date. Patrolman Phillip Pollina was the arresting officer with Special Officer Joseph Stanziano assisting. - Jorge M. Pacheco, 33, of Union was arrested at 10:45 p.m. Aug. 15 on Long Beach Boulevard in the Loveladies section of the township on the strength of an outstanding Point Pleasant warrant. Police stopped his car for failing to maintain lamps and further investigation revealed the warrant. Pacheco was transported to headquarters for processing, where posted the full $164 bail and was released. Patrolman Patrick Mazzella was the arresting officer. - A report of a large group of juveniles at 131st Street and Long Beach Boulevard in the Beach Haven Terrace section of the township led to the arrest of a 15-year-old Manahawkin male at 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 20. The Tuna Court resident was arrested on charges of juvenile delinquency for possession of stolen property, possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia. He was released to his parents. A 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old male, both Manahawkin residents, were also taken into custody. Both were transported to headquarters and released to their parents without charges. Patrolman James Seidenfadden and special officer William Lawlor were the arresting officers.

Beach Haven Times Police Log 8/20/08

- Brendon B. Hutchings and Christopher B. Lockwood, both 19, of Ridgefield, were arrested at 1:33 a.m. Aug. 12 on charges of consumption of alcohol while underage, providing false identification to a law enforcement officer and violating a borough ordinance by consuming alcohol on unlicensed premises. Police observed them lying in the front yard of a house drinking beer. Hutchings and Lockwood gave police false identification and admitted they did not live at the residence. Patrolmen Kevin Connolly and Anthony Mancini were the arresting officers. - A 17-year-old female from Chester was arrested on charges of defiant trespassing and underage possession of alcohol at 11 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Ketch. Police responded to the club for a report of a defiant trespasser. Ketch security personnel pointed to the suspect and said she repeatedly tried to the enter the club but was denied admittance because she appeared to have been drinking. She was arrested and released to her aunt. Patrolman Joseph Boehler was the arresting officer. - Two 17-year-old males from Ridgefield, Conn. were arrested on charges of underage consumption of alcohol at 5:47 p.m. Aug. 13 near the intersection of Chatsworth and West avenues. Police responded to a call about two males drinking beer while walking down the road. One of the suspects was also charged with possession of false identification. Both were released to their families. Patrolman Brian Delpriora was the arresting officer. - Kyle Nolan, 20, of Lafayette was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated and possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana at 1:05 a.m. Aug. 14 near the Fifth Street beachfront. Police responded to a call about a disturbance at the Fifth Street beachfront. Further investigation led to Nolan's arrest. He was processed and released to his mother. Sgt. Sean McCaffrey and Patrolmen Brian Delpriora and Daniel Ivancich were the arresting officers. - A 16-year-old male from Lake Hopatcong was taken into custody at 5:52 p.m. on Aug. 14 after allegedly shoplifting from Farias Surf and Sport. The alarm rang as he was leaving and employees called him back. Further investigation revealed that he had two pairs of shorts valued at $111. He was taken into custody and released to his parents after processing. - A 14-year-old and two 15-year-olds, all from New York City, were arrested on charges of possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana at 6:04 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Fairview Avenue bayfront. Patrolman Andrew Wahlberg was the arresting officer. - Several arrests stemmed from a Cops in Shops detail at 8:34 p.m. Aug. 14 at Murphy's Market. Police observed a group of people handing money and pointing out different types of alcohol to Roberto Serrano, 21, of Pennsauken. He was arrested and charged with purchasing alcohol for subjects under the legal age. The following people were arrested and charged with entering a licensed establishment to obtain alcohol while underage: Stephen Glickman, 20, of Pennsauken; Tiffani Angelone, 19, of Morristown; Matthew McCotter, 19, of Maple Shade; and Emily Petkus, 19, of Medford. They were all released after processing with court dates pending. Detective Sgt. James Markoski and Sgt. Thomas Steichen were the arresting officers. - During a Cops in Shops detail, police observed a 17-year-old male pointing out beer for a female companion to purchase at 9:54 p.m. Aug. 14 at Murphy's Market. Police approached the two outside the store and further investigation led to their arrests. The juvenile, 17, of Westfield was charged with entering a licensed establishment to obtain alcohol while underage. Shannon Kunath, 24, of Westfield was arrested and charged with purchasing alcohol for subjects under the legal age to do so. They were taken to the police station, charged and released. Detective Sgt. James Markoski and Sgt. Thomas Steichen were the arresting officers. - Donald Narouski, 28, of Long Beach Township was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated, among other charges, at 11:10 p.m. on Aug. 15 at the corner of Glendola and Bay avenues. Police responded to a report of domestic violence at Tucker's Restaurant and learned that the male suspect had fled. His vehicle information was broadcast to all Long Beach Island police departments. Long Beach Township's Patrolman James Seidenfaden located the car and stopped it at the corner of Glendola and Bay avenues. Narouski was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test, driving while suspended, reckless driving, improper passing and failure to observe a traffic signal. After processing, he was released to his wife. Patrolman Brian Delpriora was the arresting officer. - Leeor M. Laniado and Zachary W. Gerakaris, both 20, of Syosset, N.Y. were arrested on charges of possession of alcohol while underage and consumption of alcohol on unlicensed premises at 6 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Stratford Avenue beach. The arresting officer was Patrolman Kevin Snow, who was patrolling the beachfront on a four-wheel all-terrain vehicle. - Maria Kaczmarczyk, 19, of Marlboro was arrested on a charge of possession of alcohol while underage at 12:40 a.m. Aug. 18 outside the Chicken or the Egg Restaurant. She approached police on bicycle patrol about a missing friend and began to act irrationally by changing her story and providing a false name. She was processed and released. Patrolmen Anthony Mancini and Kevin Connolly were the arresting officers.
