BERNARD : The Tremont Historical Society will present a program on Granite Quarries, emphasizing those of MDI, by Steven Haynes, at the Bass Harbor Memorial Library in Bernard, Monday, June 22, 7 p.m. Hall Quarry and other MDI rock harvesting enterprises and methods will be discussed at the Bass Harbor Memorial Library, June 22.

TREMONT : Danny Jacobs has been a patient in an area hospital. His partner, Dorrie, called us the other day and said that he was in congestive heart failure and that he is in need of prayer.

In one month the Town of Bar Harbor will decide whether to complete the Comprehensive Plan, the mini-plan, and the ordinances necessary for their application, or to throw caution to the wind and leave the head of the island at the mercy of the moneyed corporations to do much of what they wish to this national treasure, Mount Desert Island.

TREMONT : Folks are invited to come to the Bass Harbor Memorial Library for a Community Open House and Re-Opening Celebration on Thursday, May 7, 4-7 p.m. The library is located at 89 Bernard Road.

TREMONT : It looks like the dredging of Bass Harbor is a go, when the construction window opens on October 1. Selectmen, this week, are reviewing the Project Partnership Agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

With a promise of summer on the way, the Southwest Harbor Public Library announces that its time-honored biennial garden tour will take place Sunday, July 26.

TREMONT : The town's Zoning Map must be changed to bring it into compliance with the requirements of the state's Mandatory Shoreland Zoning Act and Guidelines for Municipal Shoreland Zoning Ordinances.
