Barrington leaders host town-hall meetings
Barrington village leaders are taking their show on the road, leaving village hall over the next six weeks to host a series of town-hall meetings to inform residents about pressing matters, including an upcoming vote on home rule, and listen to their concerns. Village President Karen Darch said the village board decided to host the meetings in part because not many residents attend their regular meetings.
Enterovirus concerns have some Chicago-area hospitals restricting visitors
McHENRY – Area hospitals are monitoring the outbreak of a severe respiratory illness that has caused some Chicago-area hospitals to issue visitor restrictions. Two Advocate Health Care hospitals – Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge and Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, both of which have children's hospitals – are not allowing visitors younger than 18 or adults with cold-like symptoms.

Illinois High Schools Add iOS Programming To Expand STEM Education
Two Chicago area districts are introducing teachers and students to iOS coding in order to expand a focus on programming. Barrington 220 School District and High School District 214 are working with the Mobile Makers Academy , which is offering professional development for teachers as well as curriculum for students and support for the classes.

Verdict split in Schaumburg home invasion trial
Cook County jurors found Mitchell Barnes not guilty of attempted murder Friday. But the 11-woman, 1-man jury convicted the former Barrington-area man of home invasion and robbery, making the 22-year-old eligible for a prison term of up to 30 years when he is sentenced.
