During the past few months, there have been a rash of fires in Marion County. Assistant State Fire Marshal Mackey Ayersman said two unoccupied mobile homes were destroyed and another was damaged in the Chesapeake area in early February.

The Marion County Board of Education approved the following personnel actions at its regular meeting: The retirement of Sally Manly, instructor at East Fairmont High School, was approved.

Arnold Triplett grew up wanting to be a firefighter. Instead, after working as an emergency medical technician, he ended up as the chief of police of not one, but two towns: Farmington and Barrackville.
