Food Stamps and Welfare is supposed to be a short term program for those in need. Instead, it's turned into a way of life. People whine that they can't get a job but the truth is, there are jobs out there, just not the ones they want. I was on welfare and food stamps for approximately 1 to 2 years 35 years ago and used that time to get a ged and go to college. I was so embarrassed to go into a store with those stamps. I think everyone receiving food stamps, welfare or any other type of assistance need to pass a drug test from time to time and if they fail, benefits should stop.

I think they should be checked on periodically for changes that don't get reported. I don't see a problem with people who really deserve assistance but those who cheat the system and continue lying don't deserve anything. How I see it, they will get caught and then paying back the state all that money will be sweet revenge.

Assistance is not like a VA bed, with limited availability. It is out there to help your family whenever you need help. You will not be denied because someone else has taken your much needed spot, so mind your own business and take care of your own family. My husband makes very good money and with my income combined, we do pretty good...I like to look at things like this, if he were to get laid off, no way could we make it, on my income alone, so I am grateful that we pay tax and have the assistance program available to us, if we were to need it...I don't look at it, like we pay for some lazy person to cheat the system. The people on assistance may have paid more tax than you have ever made in gross income, before they became assistance dependent. So mind your own business's and you'll live a much happier lifestyle.

Everyone's lifestyles are not the same. How would you feel if they limited each family to one job, so everyone on assistance could have one? How would you like it if minimum wage was raised to $10 per hour and everyone in the country who was a laborer was paid minimum wage. If you want fair, that's fair.

...and that is exactly, why I would rather our country offer opportunity rather than enforce fairness. We have the opportunity to make things fair ourselves. If I am jealous of people who lie and cheat the system, while continuously living off the system, nothing is keeping me from doing the same, I can just give up what I have and do it...yet if they are jealous of what I have, well then they are going to have to work a little harder to get where I am, like finish college, look Hard everyday for a job, and then save, save, save...so do I feel cheated by them, hell no, they are cheating themselves! Why do you people care, if someone wants to sit at home and leave you more opportunity, while drawing scrap money, I don't!

Why would anyone in there right mind want to be on welfare when they make you work 40 hours a week for it and you only get a couple of hunderd dollars a month for it so what is the use of it, you might as well get you a regular job and atleast get paid weekly or biweekly. So if you can go slave for them and not make limited money you might as well go work some were and make some money atleast. Just my opinion.

So< Bud out where did I say these programs were a bad thing for people to have? I didn't and no I won't bud out because of how I feel about those who lie to get help. Assistance is not out there for everyone and that is the truth, I tried getting help and because i work and I make above the required guidelines i can't get nothing bottom line they don't try and help or understand. And then there are some who claim to be on their own raising their kids by themselves when they have someone else helping and paying their way the whole time, they get food stamps medical card HUD and everything that is out there. But that is ok right?

i happen to know this nasty bitc* sells her pus$y and she's bragging about it. Why hate on people drawing foodstamps and stuff?? What kind of snobby bitc* gets on Barbourville Topix (a poor town anyway) and acts like their so much better than evryone else?? You are nothing. Trash. Prostitution is not legal if you want to get technical about it. And one thing I can tell you is that you need to come off your high horse, because people who down others for getting assistance they need, will usually end up needing it theirselves. You are scum.

"One more thing" I'm not saying that nobody should receive assistance, just the ones who are truely eligible. I worked for the state of KY for over 30 years and saw so many people receiving benefits that shouldn't have had them, it just blows the mind. Anyone, at any time, could have a change in their life, lose a job, have health problems, I'm not against these people getting benefits. The people that piss me off are " a women receiving welfare and food stamps for herself and two children, saying she don't know who the fathers are and him living in the same household. He's just too sorry to work. I've seen this type of behavior all my life. You could report it but it's hard to catch people cheating. The last poster had it right, our taxes pay for thier benefits. By the way, I worked more than one job at a time several times in my life. There were plenty of times I couldn't afford a certain lifestyle, I lived within my means.

I don't mind paying taxes for someone in need; who has no other alternative but to apply for assistance. Those are not the people I'm talking about. Also, while I received assistance, I went back to school and got an education so I could take care of my family. I didn't sit on my butt.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Aries

Christmas Eve finds you happy and eager to get the most out of the day. You're in a rather sentimental mood, so if you've got time you'll relish the chance to watch a favourite film, especially if it means you've got to get out the hankies. A friend's kindness or sensitivity will delight you - and make you wonder how you can reciprocate.
