I have to admit that I'm having a hard time sympathizing with the off-duty cop too. You would think that, not even needing to dial 911, all he'd have to do is call a few fellow officers who were on duty and in uniform and let them deal with it.

Should his brother have been tested for underage drinking if he was 17 years old, or is it they don't count that because he's related ? We need to do away with double standards if that's the case... With all this Social Host and bul l....

Eventually people with children who are going through the Court process are going to be wondering why their teen did the same thing, yet they're out $50,ooo in Court and Lawyer cost, and almost all Tied into the Badge incidents never make it past the first door...

so the brother of an office duty nassau cop was just as guilty as the rest but that doesn't seem to come into play. don't think so. the off duty cop should have called it in and gone through the systme like everyone else. he shows up to protect his brother who is just as guilty as the the other 30 kids. stop with the double standards for the men in blue, most of them are fall down drunks. check your local neighbor hood bar and you'll find most of the cops there. the kid had a party that got out of hand, most likely every one reading this has done it one time or another, just these days everything is such a big deal over what would have been done and over with 20 years ago when we were kids. get over it, kids try stuff, we all did.

You know this kid and the Cop were issued a lawyer right away and told to zip it... Standard practice when the NCPD and "All in the Family" is involved ...

Since when does an off duty cop, acting on his own, enter a premise filled with intoxicated young people for the purpose of effecting an arrest? I'll bet the unnamed police spokesperson who made this statement did it with a straight face.

Essentially what we are being told is that this cop acted professionally, according to NCPD guidelines....and we ALL know what a professional policing entity the NCPD is.

Speaking of unnamed. Why weren't the names of the hero cop and his lil brother released to the public? Perhaps some of us would like to congratulate the officer for a job well done.

Cops are never truly off duty. Yes he should have called 911 due to the fact that it was his family involved.

Your right! he should have been tested and maybe he was. If found he was drinking than the people who own the home should have been arrested because he was a minor. It goes both ways.

I am guessing there was no one arrested pursuant to the Social Host law because the NCPD wanted to save themselves and this cop some embarrassment if the defendant went to trial and called the off duty buffoon to testify. This is another example of the NCPD disregarding the law in order to serve their own interests.

How much longer is the public going to be abused and maltreated by a county police department who's mission is to serve themselves before serving the public?

The blame for allowing the NCPD to act unprofessionally and krap all over the public clearly lies on the shoulders of the current County Executive and his predecessors.

The off duty cop didn't go there to make an arrest and didn't go alone. He went there with his 2 brothers to kick some butt and instead they got there butts kicked. Now he is hiding behind his shield at great expense to the County's taxpayers, who must fund the NCPD's cover up and the D.A. prosecution of the victims.
What a great County we live in.

Numerous witnesses state the the "cop" never ID himself as an officer until after he and his brothers lost the fight and the real police arrived. Then the police refused to take statements from witnesses other than the Gubellis.
Can you say cover up.
