Two buildings were involved in the blaze at Crossroads Welding that started around 5 p.m. Along with the buildings, numerous pallets, wood chips, barrels of flammable chemicals and a vehicle caught fire adding to the blaze.

J. Rodney Wendell started his 44-year teaching career at Axtell High School in 1950.

School officials decline to comment, but The World-Herald has learned that the school will accept an invitation to join the Big East Conference.

On Thursday the service will link with the existing 4G coverage in Grand Island and additionally cover Axtell, Heartwell, Holdrege, Juniata, Kenesaw and Minden.
