Every time I see stories like these my head wants to explode! Especially the comments regarding going to the Outer Banks vs staying close to home because of gas prices. Are you people brain dead???
Let's look at the FACTS ...
Philadelphia to Nags Head, NC - appx 350 miles
Appx 18 miles / gal = 19.44 gallons
19.44 gallons @ 3.50 =$ 63.13
Round trip =$126.26
Now lets look at rentals for the first week of August - Beach Block - 4br - 2 ba
- Sea Isle City =$ 3,200.00 -$ 2,000.00 for the nicer places
Nags Head -$ 1,600.00 -$2,400.00 for the nicer places - many of the houses on the outer banks have 6+ bedrooms with 3+ bathrooms that can easilly accomodate a muit family vacation
Easilly the comprable house in the Outer Banks will be at least $ 600.00 to $ 800.00 or MORE less than the Jersey shore.
And think about this...$126.26 would not cover 1 dinner at many restaurants at the Jersey shore.
Now don't get me wrong, I go to the Jersey shore all the time so this is not about bad mouthing Jersey... It's about the Hysteria the News media has created concerning the recent increase in Gas prices... Did the media put this much hype when the cost of a pack of cigarettes jumped almost $1.00 several years ago??? NO they didn't ...
