Attalla officials on tire dump: 'It's a relief for us to have this gone'
It was a ceremony to say farewell to the largest tire dump in the state of Alabama, Attalla Mayor Jane Phillips said Thursday as representatives of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management and others announced the completion of the cleanup project.
Officials have finished a three-year project to clean up a massive dump that contained millions of old tires in northeast Alabama.
