Forgery Suspect Detained By Authorities
A suspect in several local forgeries remained in the Hillsboro City Jail Friday morning, May 3. The 52-year-old Asher, Oklahoma man was detained at an east Hillsboro motel Wednesday, May 1. Jackie Armstrong of Hubbard had reported that her purse, which contained checks, was stolen from the Hill College campus in Hillsboro Friday, April 26.

Death Penalty Sought In Pottawatomie County Slaying
A prosecutor has announced he will seek the death penalty for an 18-year-old Asher man charged in the shooting death of an East Central University student.

Jerrod Murray, a former East Central University student who allegedly shot and killed another student for no apparent reason near Asher, Okla., appeared before a judge Thursday morning, April 11, 2013, and chose to waive his right to a preliminary hearing on a first degree murder charge.
Deer cam may help identify suspected burglar
Sheriff's department officials said a suspected burglar was photographed by a deer camera at a home that was broken into, just north of Asher, Monday.
