Signs of the times

Who knew there was a billboard police? And who knew they were cruising the highways and byways of Vermont, looking for potentially illegal billboards. via The Brattleboro Reformer

If you are going to live in a nanny state, you must conform to the nanny rules.

Move dude, why would such a strong and studly man like yourself live in a pathetic, whiner filled, nanny state? Grow a spine and MOVE!

Must you sound so pious? We're talking about a sign here, not a rape victim.

I call em like I see em Ron. I note you don't disagree with my point, just tell me to move. You can move if you wish, there is still more to enjoy here than not. Just have to put up with the likes of you once in a while.

I was born and grew up here. Not going anywhere, until sitting under the palm tree days come my way...

Maybe you should remind yourself of that now and then?! Or is it the booze talking or something? Because the whining and hate mongering seems fairly consistent for you bud!

by hate mongering do you mean being disagreeable?
to have different views and beliefs is not hate.

i can get carried away and say ninnies once in a while, however, my views are just different than those of, well, the Reformer, which are very left of center, in my opinion.

booze? ok,won't go there.

my view is simply that the state is not the answer,(nor should it be percieved as such), to all of our society's problems and challenges. of course, that is sometimes interpreted as hate or not caring about our citizens, but that is a false premise. i care about our folks as much as the next guy, just don't think the solution is in montpelier, or dc. the gov folks create as much roblems than they solve.

Hmmm...darned if you do and darned if you don't. The billboard is a good thing and a bad thing. Too bad there's not a happy medium, however, you wouldn't want to open the door to billboards to pop up everywhere, thus ruining some of the great things that Bellows Falls offers. TheNewsScrews.com

Thats the problem with this black and white idiocy which polarized AmeriKan politics takes us to these days. Certainly a sign like that is harmless. At the same time, the kind of signs alongside most major US interstates are grotesque, citizens certainly have the right to ban such from their own state. But where is the middle ground? Devil is in the details. And between the "business can do anything they want" and "the collective should rule" ideas - its tough to find middle ground.
I'm glad this civilization is on its way out, this stuff is too stressful to waste much energy on!
